Blizzard Entertainment sent out the Ghosts today and dropped the Nuclear Bomb on over five thousand accounts confirmed of cheating and/or using hacks to gain an inappropriate advantage in StarCraft II. Information regarding bans and suspensions are coming among the StarCraft II community as offenders are still able to post in the official forums to plead their case.
In the aftermath, speculations have been both confirmed and debunked regarding how far bans would be taken. It was previously speculated that a ban would disable the entire b.net account and therefore would remove access to all games attached to it. This announcement confirmed that the game they offended upon would be disabled. In other words, a person who hacks in StarCraft II can continue playing other games associated with their account as confirmed in the WoW forums.
Another important point is that hacking does not follow a specific part of the game such as the league matches. Players who have never played a league match which use hacks or small addons for the single player or custom games are receiving bans as well.
If you play a person whom you suspect of hacking, you have multiple options. First, after the match you may right click on the name of the individual you suspect and report it there. Alternatively you can report the player or a hack you've found at the official Blizzard Report a Hacker website. They have notes on that page regarding how to send them attached files. Some people have taken it so far as to exploit the exploiter by other public means.
