Blizzard has addressed some concerns about the proposed changes in Legacy of the Void's multiplayer. A lengthy post about Protoss strength, resource changes, and unit count were discussed:
Protoss Strength
We’ve seen concerns about Protoss being mostly ‘nerfed’. Obviously we don’t want any race to get mostly ‘nerfs’ while other races are buffed, but because we’re trying so many things at once, balance will be off. Also, we’re aware that if we take away from the strength of the race as a whole, we’ll need to add something else back to make up for it since the balance of the game is pretty solid right now in Heart of the Swarm.
Resource Changes
As far as resourcing is concerned, right now, we’d like to specifically target a change where players need to spread their bases out more so that there’s a lot more action going on. We believe this will have two benefits: players going on the offense will have more attacking options, and players on the defense can show off their defending skill better since they have to defend a much wider area now.
New Unit Count
Everything in the game so far is just a snapshot of where we’re at in development, and nothing is set in stone at this point. For instance, it’s absolutely not determined that Protoss will only get one unit while other races will get two. The final new unit count is not yet decided. We want to do what’s right for the races and the game, and it’s just too early to make a call on the final new unit count for Legacy of the Void right now.

Blizzard's Legacy of the Void multiplayer preview is up and it describes various changes coming in the expansion.
General Gameplay Changes
There are two changes to the general core-gameplay elements of StarCraft II. Both changes are aimed at making Legacy of the Void multiplayer a more action-packed experience.
- Resource tweaks
- In order to encourage aggression, we intend to create more places to attack. To do this, we’re incentivizing faster expansions by decreasing the resources on Mineral Fields and Vespene Geysers by 33%. Combined with our unit changes for each race, this should make mid-game aggression much more potent and viable.
- Mineral Fields now hold 1,000 Minerals instead of 1,500
- Vespene Geysers now hold 1,700 Vespene Gas instead of 2,500
- Starting worker count
- In order to generally reduce the passive time-periods in the game, we’re increasing the starting worker count from 6 workers to 12 workers. The supply granted by the Command Center, Nexus, and Hatchery are being increased to account for this.

An explanation for the upcoming Archon Mode has been posted, describing a new way to play that's very similar to Team Melee from StarCraft: Brood War. Archon Mode will allow two players to take control of a single base to defeat the opponent, who is also controlled by two players. It is set to make its debut when Legacy of the Void is released.
Archon mode allows players to enjoy the popular and highly refined 1-vs-1 multiplayer experience in a team setting. Both players share control over a single base, and battle against a single foe. As the game develops they must work together to defeat their opponents. Controlling armies, managing resources, building a base, scouting, and more have all become shared responsibilities that can be managed by either commander. The question is… how well will you divvy it all up?
There are various appeals to playing as a single-base team: it's easier to teach someone how to play, it provides an interesting dynamic of demanding co-operation, and it has the potential for a lot of entertaining chaos. For the full post on Archon Mode, click here.

A new Legacy of the Void post is up on the StarCraft II site showing various campaign features. It previews some of the missions in the campaign, ways to customize your army, and new locales.
Customization Options In Legacy of the Void, you’ll have a number of ways to customize the way you play. This includes choosing how to outfit your forces, and which systems to use on your ship.
Customizing your Army Rallying new protoss factions to your side has a benefit beyond simply growing your army. With new allies comes new technology and new ways to do battle. Finding the best ways to utilize these new forces can make all the difference on the battlefield.
New Missions and Mechanics As it was with Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm, you’ll be given a choice on which missions you’d like to undertake. As you customize your experience through your destination choices, you’ll find a slew of new missions that await.
Sky Shield Early on you’ll have a chance to display protoss values as you put yourself in harm’s way to help terran forces in need. In Sky Shield, you’ll be assisting Jim Raynor and his terran forces as they attempt to repair a falling space platform. Take on enemy forces and secure several stabilizers for the terran army to repair.
