You know what I think would be a pretty cool ability (not saying I support implementing it, just IMO cool), is if the Infestor can infest Terrans (or spawn them, or whatever) with an AoE ability that turns them, and they fight and fight, and when they're shot and killed, they lie on the floor and there's a duration of time where they're treated like enemy units that don't attack (basically your opponents won't shoot these "dead" infested Terrans if there are other higher priority targets), and then the infested Terrans come back to "life" because they weren't properly killed or whatever.

And it keeps happening over and over until you properly kill them.
Things like the Hellions splash, siege tanks, psi storm, lurker spines etc will easily kill these "dead but not quite" infested Terrans because of the splash.

The fact remains that people take issue with the lore of the ability.

Hence, I have a straightforward fix: Name swaps for the Infestor's abilities

    Neural Parasite -> Infest
    • The Infestor spews a specialized form of creep onto a target; allowing the Infestor to take over the victim's machinery/nervous system. Eventually, the target's defenses overcome the infection and return to normal.
    • Visually, this would require all units would need an 'infested' model much like corrupted units.
Like. You don't need a new model; a new skin is fine and easier to apply.

Spawn Infested Terrans -> Spawn Hatchlings
    • The Infestor hatches 5 simple Zerg units capable of ranged attack.
    • This would require a new model for the Hatchling but would otherwise be unchanged mechanically and statistically.
Do not want. Infested terrans should be in the game somehow, although I'll agree it's a simple purely functional solution.

Infested terrans would still be in singleplayer.

How about if the queen can lay these eggs and then when marines get near them they slowly open and then this nueral parasite jumps onto the marines head and the other marines then take that marine back in the medivac and then after a couple of minutes the nueral parasite falls off and the player gets to use the marine again and he thinks that everything is fine but then the marine starts convulsing and all the sudden out of its chect armour pops a baby infestor and then the baby infestor runs away and grows and almost eats the cat.

Not good enough. Multiplayer needs to be cool too.

So it only works if the opponent uses lots of marines? (J/k, would be hysterical if that appeared in the campaign.)

Then well throw the hybrids in. We can have the nulifier spawn 7 of them.

You can get them through the Infest/Neural Parasite ability except now, you can get them as Infested Marines, Infested Marauder or even Infested Battlecruisers.

I think it would. Creating any new content/abilities at this point would further delay beta and release as Blizzard would have to retest the Infestor internally to ensure it is neither blatantly/inherently unbalanced nor coded poorly (i.e. full of glitches).

    No it wouldn't.

They added entire units in the WC3 beta. If that's what's needed to balance the game, that's what they'll do.

For God's sake, when was the last time you saw Infested Terrans in a competitive match? Ever? Seriously; they were more underused than Nukes!

Cool, yes. Practical, no. There is not need to shoe-horn them in just for the hell of it.

Of course they were, since getting them was nearly impossible.

And in a way they have been shoe-horned in, with the more accessible baneling. Temper temper...

Do you even know the difference between SC1 and SC2? Good god.
