Thread: Tempest Discussion

I really wish they kept the Tempest, because all the carrier is is a reskin of the tempest. So why not just keep it as the Tempest? Kinda annoying if you ask me. It doesn't look like a carrier, it looks like a Tempest. It feels so fake that Blizzard is trying to push the whole nostalgic feel with a model that was obviously used for another unit.

I'm assuming they'll do what they did in TFT and have a 'skin selection' under model selection. (In TFT they reskinned the Priest, Sorceress, Catapult and Ballista, and gave you the choice of the TFT or RoC skin for those units) Where you can chose DT skins for some Protoss units, like the Void Ray, the Carrier, maybe the Soul Hunter. (Or maybe all the Protoss units *crosses fingers*.)

The Tempest makes no sense whatsoever.
It uses flying shurikens. No way in hell can things with such little mass slice through the opponents that a carrier will inevitably face, battlecruisers and planetary defenses and such, unless these flying shurikens are so unbelievably OP that they can slice through inches of neosteel like it was paper. Otherwise, I'd imagine it'd have the same effect as throwing a knife at a block of wood, it'd just get stuck in there.

No, as the Tempest has not been seen in any released/official product, it uses whatever Blizzard has yet to decide on.

Right, so let's just ignore the fact that the last time we saw a unit named the Tempest, it used flying shurikens. Let's ignore that, and pretend that "let's bring back the tempest" means bringng back the tempest model, which is what the Carrier is right now.

    Which makes no sense whatsoever.

It uses whatever the Zealot's psi-blades are made of.

    So what?
That doesn't mean it can cut through anything like swiss cheese. Let me remind you that these things are flying. Should they get lodged into something, they're going to be stuck. It's the most unrealistic weapon the Protoss can imagine, and they'd literally have to be using magic to control these flying shurikens.

Especially with the way they're designed, last time I checked, they don't look like they should be able to fly at all.

What the crap are you taking issue with here exactly? They're interceptors with psiblades in place of laser guns.

And who says they cut through things? They probably slice into them and fly off.

Interceptors with psi blades? That's completely absurd and stupid. It's a downgrade from interceptors. What, do you think psi blades can cut through every single material ever conceived like a knife through hot butter?

Yes, I don't see how the Protoss could possibly lose with tempests if that were the case, all they would have to do is send a few shurikens through a battlecruiser a few times and the entire thing would fall in half.

I don't see why they don't just drop Zealots on battlecruisers and have them cut holes through the armour so they can go inside and kill the crew members.
