The underlaying problem is "Group writing" and everyone wanting to put in their own little homage to whatever....I have the collector's edition DVD. There's so much stuff that's "forced" into the game on the due to the writer/cinematic artist being a fanboy. There's no cohesion and the lines come out flat, even if they are voiced wonderfully. It's like that Sprit movie, I've never seen something so bad - look so good. Same applies to SC2.

The showdown between Raynor and the glasses scientist (when she was infested)
The Final showdown between Raynor and Tychus
The embargo on Valerian's ship.
All of the commentary admit to "Oh I really wanted this to have that 80's feel..ALIENS and Bladerunner look"
Then someone else "Oh man I just had to put in a William Wallace moment but not make it too obvious, so I used the comm radios"
I realize this is a video game, not cinematography. But Blizzard is...or was...a AAA Development house. They could've done better IMO. But this is why many critics say video games will never be seen as "art".
It's unrealistic to expect AAA Single player and AAA multiplayer. Even games that focus on strictly singleplayer still rely on cliche or tried and true storys (Mass Effect).
