Re: Favorite/Least favorite units for each race?
I'm just stating my favourites and least favourites of the new units only
Terrans:
Fav: Viking
Least Fav: Hellion (I feel that its attack style steals too much thunder from the Lurker. People call it a firebat on wheels, but 'mini-lurker on wheels' seems more accurate.)
Protoss:
Fav: Stalker - whether or not it's overpowered at the moment, it is undeniably a very intriguing unit that's destined for some epic plays
.
Least Fav: None at the moment o_0
Zerg:
Fav: Roach! I love this little guy! I just love ability-less Zerg units like Hydras, Zerglings and Ultralisks in BroodWar (kinda disappointed that Zerglings gained a non-burrow ability in SC2 :P). The micro depth comes from his unique regenerative properties. Just a brilliant example of incredibly elegant unit design.
Least Favourite: Overseer. I'd like it if they'd move detection back to Overlords and forget about Overseers entirely. Part of what made the Zerg in BW so unique was their method of detection. Saying that Zerg were 'detectorific' in BW is like saying that Terrans were 'firepowerific', but racial traits should be played up in SC2 to make the races more unique, not made more standardised across the three factions. It's not as if Zerg never had detection problems in BW. By requiring such a specialised (gas-costing, ugh) unit to detect invisible units out in the field, I can't help but feel that it cheapens the Zerg's uniqueness. I also feel that 'basic' units shouldn't always be morphing into bigger ones. It's ok when used on just a couple of units, but having morphs for Zerglings, Overlords, Mutalisks, and Hydralisks feels a bit too much.)
