As pre-infested Kerrigan would say: "Thinkin' the same thing"
Yes, that's right! That is indeed ME on the right.

And if I recall correctly, Iron Man came out nine months after the trailer for StarCraft II.

Right, so Iron Man probably borrowed the scene from the game.
    - So, Gerard, I suspect you have a good reason for pulling me away from my Duties.
    - Your Vodka can wait, my good Alexi.

I enjoyed the Tychus/Horner chat about Kerrigan - it was one of the very few times in the entire game where it felt like they'd taken the story seriously.

There were just so many things that killed the entire universe for me in that game that I always choose to disregard anything SC2. The prophecy, the character-slaughter of Kerrigan, Mengsk, the Overmind and Zeratul, the SC2=>Mass Effect conversion (don't get me wrong, I love Mass Effect but please don't make them any more alike), and oh my god what's to come in HotS.

I have to slightly disagree with the above comments about Mengsk in SC2. While I did like his feature in the final cinematic (at that point he seemed so much more in character, so much more in control of the situation) and his appearance before the assault on Char (from the trailer, I'd expected him to say 'you've been way over your head' to Raynor, which I thought would have had a much more significant impact and would have paralleled Mengsk and Raynor's earlier relationship), throughout the missions (those god-awful propaganda speeches) and where he's at the press conference, he is in no way reminiscent of his former self. The only weakness he lets slip in Brood War is his power-hungry driven trust in Kerrigan, which even at Kerrigan's turn, he still composes himself without before resorting to pouting like a child.

In regards to the writer's experience, I can't vouch for it because I know story is the last thing I play for in Mass Effect. The way the story has been handled is incomprehensible. A prophecy? A crystal with no other significance than being a virtual experience device? Making Kerrigan 'good' just so that people won't feel averse to playing the Zerg campaign? A PROPHECY?

As opposed to all the other times in the series when prophecy and crystals were plot devices, and...

Screw it. To each their own I guess.

SC2's forgettable crystal was just the writers' way of getting the prophecy missions into the game - I don't see how Zeratul relating his experiences to Raynor and then having the missions in as a flashback would have been any different.

The Uraj and Khaydarin were required to power the Xel'Naga to save Shakuras from the Zerg, and if there were any prophecy story arcs in SC1, please tell me what I missed.

Prophecy/precognition (not including premonition) was (mentioned) in the following prior to WoL:

    -Retribution
    -Acropolis
    -Mirage
    -Firstborn
    -Ghost Academy (volume 3)

I haven't played through the first 3 (I'm just assuming they're the bonus missions that I'm not sure are even considered canon, and honestly don't count since they were created independently of Blizzard). You do understand that Firstborn and Ghost Academy are all part of the SC2 arcs right?
Point is, they are all post SC1/BW. SC:Ghost (the novel that is) is the closest that has come close outside of SC/BW to what the original was.

EDIT: Look, I'm not here to argue over this. I just want to say that SC2's story sucks in the hope of Blizzard getting their act together.
