It's fine the way it is...no, really!
Needs minor tweaks
Needs substantial changes
Needs major overhaul
Complete redesign into an entirely different unit
Scrap it and replace with Arbiter
Scrap it and replace with nothing
I like pie?

what they need to let the Mothership do is to teleport between Nexuses. Wormhole transit used to work with buildings in general but having this ability lets the mothership perform its role better, as a expo defender. Port to a nexus and recall the army to defend an expo, and give mothership increased mana regen when near a nexus

and have it be able to radiate a pylon field "toggle" (still mobile but will drain mana if it moves)

I agree that the Mothership being crappy is a-OK. What I don't agree with -- very strongly -- is Blizzard admitting that.
The world isn't going to implode if the Mothership continues being useless. The game won't suddenly stop being interesting. Everything will go on normally. The problem is, we don't want it to go on normally, we want it to be getting better all the time.
If Blizz is thinking, "let's wait until HOTS and then revamp things when we're revamping things," then I agree. It might be OK for the Mothership to be crappy for now, as long as they have plans to make use of the unit slot in the future. But then they should say that.
They should also have an open mind toward changing it sooner rather than later. Already they've admitted that the TvP match-up might be inherently imbalanced, forcing the use of certain units, giving the races different advantages at different timings. They've admitted they might need to rework the MU from the ground up. Well if they do that, big changes are going to occur anyway, so they might as well use the opportunity to try new things with the Mothership. What's the worst that could happen, imbalance? With the sort of changes they need to implement to make TvP more than a one-trick pony, imbalance is virtually guaranteed as is. Might as well get the most out of it that they can.

Todie picked up on it correctly, rather than get involved in my own post of epicness the idea of a strict one-unit limit isn't necessarily a bad one, especially (and here's the key) if the unit is of such epic proportions that having more than one would be game-breaking (fitting in with racial characteristics is just icing on the cake). This is something I do approve of, because it would change up the game dynamics and force players to confront a new challenge with new strategies. Such a unit would further differentiate the game even more from its previous version.
Now, if the unit itself was not so awesomely awesome as to make the game assume the fetal position if there were more than two, then the hard one unit limit would be a bit harder to justify. I could see an argument whereby you make said unit so expensive that getting more than one, unless you have an overwhelming expansion advantage/playing money maps, simply not cost effective. However, I don't think even taking that away from the current version of MS would make it any more popular or useful, since it still retains all of its other flaws.
The fact that you're only seeing it in team games is proof enough of its limited versatility: were it an actual unit of some worth, you would see it more often in both team and individual matches. And given that many of its "advantages" can be too easily negated (who doesn't have detectors by that point in the game?), damn right I'd rather have a few High Templars or Void Rays instead.
Semantics, that they even admit the possibility would be damning enough, but we all know no company would willingly and publicly admit "yeah, part of our product is crap, and we don't plan on changing that anytime soon."Nope. They said it was possibly the case.
I've yet to find one so far. I suppose I'll admit some kind of trick play like Vortex + Nuke would count, but that just proves the limited utility the spell has; unless you've found a secret Protoss stockpile of WMDs available for 1v1 games.I doubt you could find a replay that a well-placed vortex did not change the outcomes of a battle.
Superior capability in language does not necessarily equate to superior intelligence...but it certainly doesn't help your argument if you sound stupid.

Bloody Huk and his mothership rushes. LOL. Dreamhack group stage Bo1 HukvTarson casted by TotalBiscuit. He uses it in such a cool way that people can almost hope it can be used in a normal game. Almost.:P Got a win off it though. Even though the Terran scouted it.
