Oh it's a vague picture guys, nobody could've guessed what it was?! /sarcasm.
Yah it doesn't give out that a Balrog smokes Gandalf into the abyss, but it sure does as hell tell you one thing : GANDALF FALLS INTO A BLACK PIT SOMEWHERE ALONG IN THE MOVIE!
It detracts the viewer/gamer from the moment. Why else does any respective game company say explicitly "NO SPOILERS" in their game discussion forums? They don't want the experience ruined for the viewer/gamer.
Now let's look at SC2.
Kerrigan is laying on the ground with no carapace on.
Kerrigan has zerg nerve tendril dreadlock hair.
We can conclude that something has happened to Kerrigan's physical form.
SOMETHING HAPPENS TO KERRIGAN IN SC2!!
Adding that notion with the fact that infestation/deinfestation is possible in StarCraft, we can induce that she gets uninfested. Now this is still vague from a Pre SC2 release, but it certainly "ruins" it.
It's even worse when it's true. So when the crystal is formed and they inform it will nuke the zerg - the entire ending sequence is formed in your head. Honestly at the end cinematic, I almost wanted to just get up and go take a piss so I wouldn't have to bare the horrible truth that I knew.. Blizzard leaked out the ending. It just leaves a sour taste at the end. Instead of enjoying the ending, you're just thinking "Wtf, they were serious...?"
Do you get what I mean? They ruined the "moment" of the ending, sure the ending was not completely ruined - but it was similiar to someone ruining the ending for LOTR Trilogy for me. Despite how ridiculous it sounded, I couldn't help but just think about it during the final moments of LOTR.
P.S. At the Halo thing, well shoot me. That's two games that give out their endings then. Thankfully both won't be remembered as classic moments in gaming history for their respective genres.
