    Default SC2 HOTS Wish lists and improvements

    Hi all, what is your wishlist for features and improvements to be added the the expansion?
    ***NOTE*** Only features that have not been announced as coming in patches(for example no chat channels wishes as they are coming), other than that it can be anything from specific unit damage buffs to campaign concepts and battle.net revamps.

    I'll start first:
    Bnet 2.0
    • Unlock regional play
    • Increased custom maps space(100mb)
    • Revamped custom maps screen - tree like map list, open Dota and you get a list of all dota maps by name, type, speed, etc... map searching and filters - everything from map type(TD, RPG, Melee, etc...) to map size, speed,filled slots, etc.. On top of that map popularity, rating and newest maps mini screens to choose from.
    • Automated tournament registration and mode, complete with custom tournament channel, custom tournament chat, replays, maps, etc...
    • Live game streaming and join map in progress option.
    • Lock games with password or by registered tournament*see above idea*
    • Customizable game lobby screen
    • LAN support for major tournaments and events
    • In-game latency and bandwidth tester
    • text commands for chat channels


    Gameplay
    • Faster setting now default and in sync with timer and game time.
    • Lock for some graphic settings configuration to prevent abuse(like seeing cloaked units or seeing through fog of war)
    • Zergling selection size reduced
    • Ultralisk size reduced tiny bit


    Campaign
    • Player chosen missions removed(ex: Zerathul missions). It created some whole in the story, since you can choose when to play a specific mission.
    • Bring in the M rating, while WOL story was ok, it seemed pretty childish, considering the fate of 3 different races stands in the balance. Make it maturer.
    • Greater missions ans story cohesion, more background story of surrounding characters.
    • Achievements for all levels of difficulty


    Sound department
    • Rework some of the crappy unit lines or replace them with completely new lines.
    • More music for multiplayer


    Graphics animation and models
    • Improve movement animation for stalkers
    • Improve swing animation for zealots
    • Add new animation for Ghost EMP, make it more transparent
    • Add tone more new tilesets
    • Add more tree types
    • Add more creeps
    • Make in-game rendered scenes video format.
    • Add build-in benchmark tool

    Completely Agree. I was pretty disappointed to hear they haven't even figured out where the story is heading for HotS and LotV.

    Seriously!? After ten years, they coulnd't even get the general story cranked out. I really think they have given the story a major backseat to multiplayer, map editor, etc...

    I do agree that multiplayer is more important than anything with a sequel to one of the most widely played competetive video games in the world. However, they shouldn't take that long to complete something and then halfassedly rush the single player story that many many people were waiting for.

    bring back all the original BW music
    implement team melee
    add more death animations and melee attack animations for ranged units
    customizeable unit models

    I agree with most of what you said in the first post:

    Graphics and Animation
    Zerg:
    Zerg eggs need a startup animation and hatching animation.
    Zerg needs stopping animations like the roach:
    Hydralisks, zerlings, ultralisks definitely need more stopping animations, they currently just stop on a dime.

    Overall general touch ups to effects and possibly new stuff. I'm hoping for Legacy of the Void, they do something grand like put in all new DX11 graphics since these games take SOO long to get released, by 2014 I'm quite sure everyone will be sporting DX11.

    Protoss:
    Zealot has a more fierce animation rather than swiping his credit card around

    Sound:
    Redo a vast majority of the zerg sound scape since this is zerg expansion anyway. It's absolutely critical that this happens.

    Redo a lot of the music for Zerg since there isn't much creativity here.

    Campaign:
    Make it a great story. Choice is absolutely pointless, Blizzard isn't close to Bioware in terms of story telling so copying a great writer just makes you sound stupid.

    Yeah I really don't understand why every gaming company thinks they need to implement a player-choice story these days. It works for some games but is often obstructive, confusing, and unnecessary, especially in an RTS game. It makes sense for in-depth protagonist driven RPGs, but is it necessary for a real-time strategy game?

    The worst part is Blizzard didn't even do it. They just tried to trick the player into thinking it's a choice game. However, if you're any kind of starcraft fan, you're going to play every mission possible and then go back and complete the ones you weren't allowed to in your first run-through (which adds up to a whopping 3 missions if I'm not mistaken).

    I miss the days of missions complete, problem arises, next mission. It kept the plot going a lot better too. Obviously, Blizzard doesn't care about their current plot if they don't care in which order it takes place. Seriously, do people actually think they're braindead robots if they don't get to make choices in video games? You don't get to choose the ending of a movie at the theaters but you still enjoy them, so I don't see why we have to choose the path of the game.

    I only want them to hold off on the cheese for the story. Cheese is ok from time to time but too much cheese makes you not care for the story. Hopefully the guy who wrote the script for the D3 demon hunter trailer won't take part in the HotS brain storming sessions.

    Choice is good, but they have to make multiple plot-lines as the arc branches out. I agree, WoL was nothing remotely about choice. Yeah, we can choose between 3 missions, but it was not plot related.

    Mostly affected the other characters and all, but the player choice didn't make much of an impact. This, imo, is due to the fact that there was no story branching happening.

    I am hoping for a hard-choice thing, and not a character related one, rather a turning-point in the plot. Something you can't go back and do, a sort of dilemma.

    I wanna see a scene in the hyperion with Sarah, Jim and a hydralisk
    something like this:

    Jim: at first i hated this things, but their are a really noble and useful creatures (rubs hydra's head)
    Sara: yes :3
    Hydralisk: :3

    I wanna see zergs fighting side by side with raynor against the hybrids x3
