My interest level in this game is dying out mainly because there seems to be less people playing it on my friends list. It's probably because the game is too hardcore and difficult to learn for most people, so the casuals are all losing interest in it. Personally, I don't find it much fun if I can't play with people I know.
It was a blast over the past few months playing 3v3 and 4v4 with some regular gaming friends and new people I met online. But lately it seems like less and less people are playing the game so it's losing its thrill.
Black Ops comes out in a month and that game will surely absorb a ton of attention *shakes fist at Activision*

I disagree. Yes there is going to be a movement of people leaving and that is obvious and normal. If 4 million bought the game, its expected that over a period of 1 year the number of people playing online will come down to 3 million, than give it another year (assuming the expansion doesn't come out) that number will gradually reduce even further.
But there are also always going to be people that are purchase the game and that will also add numbers online. I'm even expecting once all the Blizzard mods come out to see a lot more people staying and playing custom maps.
The biggest issue now is the small upload limit for map makers and of course the crap custom maps screen and no chat channels.
Once those are added/improved I'd expect a bigger percent of people staying.

Talking about that, it's me, or there's the same or even less numbers of players that during the beta?

Its you. Beta had at most 30.000 people invited, if you calculate that mathematically by the number of people playing at any given time, put in the average time of playing and numbers of invites vs conversion, you get roughly 4000-5000 people playing at any given time.
Now up the number to 3 million+ , divide it by regions and do the math, there would be at least few hundred thousand people playing at any given time.

Yes, but i'm seeing 12000 players in NA right now. That is as many as in beta, or even less. Counting all the people around the world, the number should be higher, but right now it's around 16000. I expected much more players. I remember seeing 14000 players in beta. Ok, probably was in a weekend, but i don't see a big explosion of players.

Bored by Starcraft? Perhaps the hype for the singleplayer will be not as strong as say having 1 yr releases between each game and expansion, but it will nonetheless sell very well. When people realize that HotS will essentially be more like a sequel packed into an expansion style format, they'll find a reason not to pass it up. Cmon, you get to play Kerrigan!
Legacy of the Void will be the same. By then, the technology could always improve, and Blizzard always has the ability to upgrade their engine in that length of time with new technology that could improve graphics or gameplay. They're doing it with WoW, I can't see why they couldn't with SC2.

I could see some foundation for your original claim as being possible, but there is no foundation I can find for this. Considering the WoL storyline pretty much (spoilers) reveals that Valerian more or less is the chief of the Moebius foundation and that they are Tychus's cash supply, it would make sense that they did indeed have some idea of what they were looking for. That said, I doubt Duran has anything to do with the foundation or he would have kept the secret to himself, being, supposedly, infested.
Update to original post: reading through the posts here I saw mention of the Dark Voice from the manga. Nice catch. I have that manga and didn't remember it. Still, it's 50/50 between XN and DV.
