Default State of the Game(post 1.1.2 patch)

Hi there ladies and gentlemen, you are all aware of the important changes that took place in the 1.1.2 patch that Blizzard released some 10 days ago.

Having had enough time for the patch to sink in and start changing gameplay, how do you feel the state of the game and specifically Zerg is now?

Do you feel that Zerg is finally balanced, is it now over buffed or is it still weak?
Do you feel that maybe Terran have been so weakened now that they are at a disadvantageous position?

    - My current thought are that Blizzard is over doing it with the patches and needs to bring less and smaller changes with the patches over a faster period of time. There is no evidence that Protoss or Terran have been significantly weakened(yet), and its obvious that Zerg have an easier time due to the increase in roach range and some of the buildings buffs.

Still though I feel its early to tell if the newest patch has had any negative, positive or simply no effect at all. I would wait at least one more weak before making another thread with a poll in it to decide the ultimate outcome of patch 1.2.

    Speak your mind...

I think you mean patch 1.1.2.:P Don't we already have lots of these threads here and there. Don't see how you can not see terran or protoss weakened against zerg. Zerg has less to worry about in terms of early game rushes with VR nerf and depot before rax. And hp buffs to all their buildings making it harder to snipe them down. It is an improvement for zerg but wouldn't say finally balanced. The game hasn't been out that long. Terrans can't really be weakened as long as they still have their marauders.:P

I think we're in for 3 or so more years of constant shifting. I'm happy enough that I will keep playing and enjoy the ride. I think the amount of drama is out of proportion to the small problems the game has and that the experience can only improve.

    Short version: I'm happy.

Most stuff in the game was easily countered if you knew how to play from the start - a lot of people hate mass mutas, but I can fend them off fine with stalkers if I scout it. Void rays and super-fast reapers were very annoying, and I approve of nerfing any kind of cheese.

Other than that, I think that skill can overcome many small imbalances, and if we whine too much then every race will become the same, with each having identical units because we complain about every difference.

    Oh, and nerf marauders.

    Well,

Roach range -- useless crap. Roaches are still useless and are good only for damage soaking prior to ultralisk.

Roach strat bubbles -- pop it with a nice 2 gate immortal. Stop going for photon cannon D's.

Terran's Depo first -- useless and unnecessary encumbrance. Rather, make OC take longer to build, add cooldown to mules, lower marauder HP (or slow down their movement), and lower reaper attack speed instead.

Voidrays -- still strong, especially since econ allows for Zeal-rays, or a variation of such.

In general, I find most super-weapon units to reach critical mass quickly.

Well I prefer slower balance patches because it gives time to let the problems become more apparent as the meta-game evolves. However, if something is obviously bad or imbalanced then I don't mind a quick fix.

I put a lot of faith in Blizzard's decision making though, even if some of their changes are questionable they probably have a solid reason for it as they have so much data and we only have our experiences to go by, which is a terrible sample size and heavily biased
I really need to change this...

I am winning more with Zerg, but I am winning much less with Terran and Protoss, especially in TvT, TvP and PVP where I am the first letter. PvT is pretty much unchanged for me. I'm also winning TvZ and PvZ more likely because some players are trying out the roach all over again and leaving themselves vulnerable and also because I'm using a more stalker/mm heavy build early game. I used go zealot/rine to VR/vike & banshee. I still use VRs for AtA cover and harassment midgame, but the opportunities have been limited.
