    Default Why was detect removed from Overlord? Why was there there in the first place?

    I have a double sided question, why was the vision removed from the overlord? Did people complain in SC1? I really don't see why vision was removed from the overlord all races have invisible units except for zerg.

    Was it removed solely to introduce a pretty useless air caster? Does it increase micro to have detectability removed?

    Likely it was just to make invisible units viable against zerg.

    Zerg just always had massive amounts of detection. Making DT's, Arbiters (cloaking field wise), Ghosts, and Wraiths essentially obsolete and burrow ment nothing against another zerg. An entire race being completely immune to invisible units is one helluvah racial trait. I don't think people hated on it too much, because it was always around and this was in the golden era, before players flamed devs over the smallest thing.

    IDK, that's the only reason I can come up with.

    Probably to make stealth strategies actually somewhat viable against the zerg; at least at lower tiers. The fact that zerg basically had cheep, easy detection right out the gate made most stealth/cloaking strat's virtually impossible in sc1.

    Actually, burrowed units could be considered invisible units for zerg. However, without lurkers, none of them can really do anything while burrowed except for the few lame spells infestors can cast while burrowed.

    I don't really mind though, I think it makes it more interesting to have to get detection in order to allow other races that option against zerg.

    To give an extra 17 seconds of utility to stealth units against Zerg and to punish players who take too long to Lair.

    Because Zerg started the game with detection....? Does that seem alright to you?

    Why is that wrong? It was fine for BW players for 10 years. Why the suddenly 180 because SC2 had it?

    Terran has Siege tanks that out range everything. Does that seem alright with you?

    Having detection and not having detection is the same as shooting up cliffs and not being able to. It's just a gameplay mechanic. I don't see right or wrong to that.

    Answering a question with a question, if elements of SC2 didn't change from BW, why make a sequel at all?
