Apparently, the TLers don't think it's such a big deal.

lol he said it was the most marginal of details :P

So now the obelisk is pretty much the same as the nexus with rally mine. Every 30 seconds you hit your nexus hotkey and hit p and you hit your obelisk hotkey and hit p and click the minimap.

If you want to maximise your efficiency you'll still go back to base. It's not that big of a deal.

Why would you go back to the base? The AoE radius is really large. It appears you could get all your probes easily just be clicking halfway between your nexus and mineral line.

There will always be one place that is more efficient that others, targeting via the mini-map isn't even accurate enough for what you describe and it's a total of about half a second to ensure that your mineral gain is as high as possible.

In fact, it's probably faster to go hotkey for obelisks -> location hotkey for mineral line -> cast -> location hotkey for wherever you were/hotkey for your army than it is to go hotkey for obelisks -> cast hotkey -> move mouse to mini-map -> aim correctly -> move mouse away again.

Even for players like Bisu and Reach?

Anyways, it's not like everyone needs the absolute max amount of Probes affected by PC all the time. If you can keep most of your micro while still macroing probably it's worth the lack of accuracy. Not to mention that this will be much more accurate in smaller maps than larger ones. And most "pro" maps aren't larger than 128x128, right?

What if your terrans pushing and you realize its time to proton charge. Your gonna go back to the base and just hope for the best?

I just dont see how you could possible miss with a AoE that big. Keep in mind that in this picture the mineral line is farther then normal. The actual mineral line would be right next to the gas.

You can miss if you're in a hurry, which you always are in StarCraft, using location hotkeys is faster and more accurate. The mini-map is pretty small and it's all about min-maxing, so you'll want to get it perfect every time, which is a lot more likely using location keys.

If you literally don't have time to go back to base and do it, you won't have time for the mini-map either. You'll wait for a break in the fighting or you'll just do it anyway.
