    For tier 3 unit, that is only AtG unit, I think they should have a little bit more of hp, especially since they are slower than Overlords with speed. They cost as much as Carriers and Battle Cruisers, and still got ~200-300 less Hp.
    this is a problem that concerns both zerg and protoss...

    terrans shouldn't be too bothered with a boost to the BL's hp with enough vikings but protoss players wouldn't normally use any air to pick out BL's without having to face corrupters and stalkers get massacred without blink...

    it's no easy to task to give the BL just enough not to be too powerful but to actually make a difference...

    otherwise, a look upon the viking could be necessary but i don't want to make any assumptions...

    however i do think 28 dmg with 9 range is...... a bahjesus inducing power attck for a unit that can be quite easily massed and can effectively harass being roughly the equivalent of a stalker gtg...

    I agree, that is the same thing that I feel about latest patch. When they upped Zealot production time and time of an Warp Gates, all Zergs were "ok, that should balance those strong pushes of Protoss", but at the same time, Protoss lost the answer to the Terran pushes...
    There are plenty of things that need change, but that change usually will affect both races, one in a better way, one in a worse. So we will see...

    It seems to me that the viking is meant to counter the muta more than anything with its range and ease of massing. I think it was unintentional that it countered the BL so easily. I think the answer would be to change the damage from 28 to 20+8 vs light. That way it can still counter mutas and voids just as well.

    It seems to me like it's more aimed to counter Armored units, given the attack bonus. Even the in-game menu says it's weak vs Mutas, and strong vs Corruptors.
    But of course, they had to go over the top and give the unit a 20 + (8 vs Armored) attack, and 9 range. This unit is cheap and double-pumpable.

    i think a problem lies in how they tried to compensate the viking's power by giving it low hp...
    the problem with that however, is that barely any units can even get to them without sustaining heavy damage and all ground units will have a hard time if tanks are coupled with them, not to mention terrans have 3 effective base raiders at different times?
    reaper for early, hellions for transtion to mid and even vikings vs expos and such...

    First off, Vikings shouldn't counter Mutas, there are already many counters to Mutas in Terran army. Second, Void Rays are armored.

    Third, the Viking's attack is 10 (+4 vs. armored) x2, not 14 x2 as you seem to think, flak.

    20 dmg per attack is still a big number when we're talking about a massable unit with a long range...
