In the expansion, you'll be able to upgrade Specters from Ghosts, as long as you're able to provide your own terrazine damnit.

Might as well upgrade Hellions from Vultures. If Specters are going to be in, one of them has to be drastically changed a la Dark Archon vs Archon/High Templar.

thats just the thing, even though a spectre is a super ghost, the only thing keeping them similar as a unit is the cloaking and the nuking. you take that away from them and they aren't really stepping on each others toes like a hellion and a vulture do. that's the only drastic change they probably do, is take that away.
besides the spectre, here is another thing to talk about.
what is the deal with blizzard obsession over a protoss with firepower?
the concept art of a heavy armored protoss with huge cannons on his forearms, the vindicator from the dead ghost game with a lighting gun, and the cut soul hunter who rides around on a hover board with a big gun.
the repeated concept of this protoss makes me think that blizzard wants to create a new unit not of the templar caste. such a protoss i think would be from the furinax tribe of the khalai caste.
this could lead to an eventual expansion unit.

Spectre would have to be a something other than an assault unit (Marine, Maurader, Reaper) and a Stealth unit (Ghost). I don't see that happening with enough difference.

I think if they took Zeratul's void ship thing, re-skinned it and gave it a Corsair type attack that it'de make an awsome addition to the SC universe.
I know Blizzard was thinking of putting it into the game at some point but the unit name escapes me at this time.
Throw in a cool ability. Like an attack that draws units into the center of the attack AOE (sucked into "the void") and it'de be a winner + a great match to the Pheonix!
Corsair 2.0 FTW!

a cool concept, but really? a second air to light air fighter for protoss? seems quite far-fetched; too much overlap, even if the unit and its attack is different from the phoenix, it'll sill fill so much of the same role.

Ya but the Pheonix is lame as hell. So I don't think too many people would mind much
+ Blizzard will most likely add more air units for the other races, so having another Toss air unit can never be a bad thing.
Anyways, here's a more fleshed out version of my idea:
Void Seeker
Designed using integrated High and Dark Templar technologies, the Void Seeker is the Protoss' most recent attempt at replacing the once mighty Corsair fleets.
Originaly constructed as a transport vessel, the ship's Void matrix has been re-designed as a weapon which works by creating a small and temporary rift in the fabric of space.
The gravitational forces that this creates are so strong that anything caught inside sustains massive pressure, causing crippling damage to anything not equiped with the most hardened of ship plating.
The closer something is to the center of the rift, the greater the forces and the more damage it sustains. And due to the gravitational pull that comes with the rifts creation it is almost imposible to escape getting sucked in on standard thrusters.
Life: 50
Shield: 100
Armour: 0
Movement: Fast
Attributes: Light
Producer: Stargate
Hotkey: K
Cost: 100min - 175gas
Supply: 2
Build time: 55
Weapon: Rift matrix
Range: 2.5
(AOE range of 2.5 emanating from the center of the burst)
Attack speed: Slow
General Strategy:
- Light craft that can attack air units.
- Deals 5 damage per burst to untis caught in the center and, 2 damage in an AOE around the center of the burst.
- Center of burst is a range of 1
- Attack draws units into the center of the burst. If that unit is moving away from the center it is slowed until it can escape the AOE
- Slowing and Pull effect does not work on Massive units.
Strengths
- Strong against small grouped units.
- Effective against units that have the need to be still to do the most DPS.
Ie: pulling Void Rays/ Brood Lords closer to other units.- Can briefly slow down Retreating air units.
- Causes un-clumped units to clump up if not micro-managed properly.
- Mixed with the Pheonix's Graviton beam, The Void seeker can even group ground units together.
Weakness'
- Low HP
- Short attack range
- Susceptible to EMP shockwaves
- Rift matrix works both ways. Though it may slow retreating units, attacking units can get in range quicker using the gravitational pull.
- Relativley slow acceleration speed
- Though the damage between multiple Void Seekers can stack, their slowing/pulling abilities can not. So unless they are spread out along the enemies retreat path the targeted units will eventually escape the effect.

as mentioend, its a way cool concept, the attack mode being at the heart of it ofcoruse.
Thoguths: Broorlords are massive, so they cant be affected as you mention.
as i hitned at in first post, 5 damage is really another way of saying "way better vs units that dont have any base armor" = mostly light units; corruptors have 2 base armor and BL's are massive..
it could be effective for some fairly stirahgtforward dogfighting vs Vikings and mutalisks and phoenix and any new air units, but as mentioned i dont think that warrants its inclusion, because phoenix is already so dedicated anti-light air, and good at it. (phoenix isnt "lame as hell", thats just your opinion)
Finally, the possible synergy with phoenix to target ground units and benefit from the abilty to "group together" even ground units, its very far fetched, as GB costs 50 energy and this gravitational-pull ability would require kind of many units that are already quite close together, to be lifted at once...
...Tactically, the best i could see coming out of this is a group of these units forcing some mutas or vikings to stack, resulting in significant splash damage dealt, witch can also be synergiesed with a psistorm and/or some archon-attacks. Awesome! having said that, i cant even imagine how additional other units for P & other races would make it feel like such a unit could feel like a true fit for the protoss unit-rooster in Multiplayer.
would love to see it in the SP though.
+rep for effort & coolness
Peace.

I think they probably will add new units but they will have to be extremely careful with what they add.
Here's what I think they should do:
Give reapers spider mines
For zerg they should give them something... good, maybe a terrain control unit like the lurker, though I don't see that happening.
