Thanks to everyone for participating! First off I'd like to announce that this contest has been sponsored by the question, "Should people be able to spend their own money however they please?" I'm not promoting anything or receiving any real personal benefit from this other than a bit of satisfaction. That's right, $20 towards a random contest just because I felt like it. Hence the title
After examining all entries (where was yours, Tychus?) I've picked Fyrinite's and Gifted's entries as my favourites. Congratulations!
Fyrinite's best point is the examples he used, generally answering yes, but as long as there's no harm to others.
Gifted's example is great. At first when he said it was akin to voice mail I'm thinking "wtf Gifted?" but after reading through it was the perfect analogy.
My own answer is yes, that you should be allowed to spend your own money however you wish as long as you've procured it legally and the way it's spent won't harm others directly.
I was so disgusted to see a member here offer lessons and have the thread flooded with people trying to force their own point across that you'd have to be crazy to pay for Starcraft 2 coaching, very similar to Gifted's example. Skyze made an offer and you can accept it or ignore it all you like, but why are others trying to convince people it's not worth it? Anyway, despite their opinions this contest exists, taking the question of how you should spend your money to another level.
Thanks to everyone for participating and hopefully a lesson or at least insight has been dealt.![]()

Gifted and Fyrinite, send me 5 of your latest 1v1 replays (preferably not blowouts with you winning).. but just games so I can get an idea of your typical gameplay and make some initial notes before chatting..
I'll pm you guys later, or contact me. My schedule is pretty staggered this weekend so it'll probably be best around tuesday/wednesday of next week..
