Default Artifact to play a bigger role than you think?

Artifact lead-to-assembly by Dr. Narud (Duran, affiliated with Dark Voice,) which absorbs Zerg telepathic frequencies (stated in campagin) from the unquestionably most telepathically powerful zerg, while giving control of the Zerg in general to the Dark Voice as well.

Sound's like the artifact to play a bigger role than we thought it would. What do you think?

EDIT: I'll emphasise the fact that the zerg telepathic energies are absorbed into the artifact. Possible research, weaponry, or sinister becoming to it.

I've been saying this for awhile, based on Hanson's speculation that if a Protoss was to come into contact with the Artifact, the device would absorb the life energy out of the Protoss; based on her observation of when Zeratul's Ihan Crystal was brought into proximity to the fragments of the Artifact.

It thus explains (assuming Narud = Duran) why Narud would help piece together the Artifact knowing full well it would be used to turn Kerrigan, and thus by extension the Zerg, out of the Dark Voice's control. It is a gambit where control of the Zerg is exchanged for the power to destroy both, the Zerg and Protoss en masse.

I really didn't like the whole artifact collecting business. I would have preferred it if the artifact just blew up into a billion pieces and flew off into random directions in the universe like Dragon Balls, after it reversed Kerrigan's infestation.

Then Jim Raynor and Kerrigan get it on and they have a PI 9001 kid who has a giant brain and can blow up Dominion worlds with the blink of an eye. But I digress...

    When was this? o_O
    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

One of the commentaries with Dr. Hanson. Distinctly remember her saying this.

That would make an interesting mission in the expansions. In a mission with Zerg, Protoss and Terran, you command a small Terran force to go inside the artifact's killzone where your Protoss and Zerg units cannot enter.

Do you think the artifact can destroy hybrids? They are both zerg/protoss, even if they are superior to both races

One thing that seems clear is Dark Voice uses a form of psionic communication/control a very great deal more sinister than the Zerg or Protoss, both of whom include the function as a fairly benign part of their natural biology. Kerrigan doesn't need to "dominate" the Swarm, she has executive control as a natural function of being the top link in the chain.

Dark Voice apparently can usurp control of an individual or groups in a variety of odd ways...

I'd speculate the artifact should work against Hybrids but this is likely to be avoided in the narrative, at least I hope so because mega-powerful sci-fi Artifacts are so last century in literary terms... However, it will certainly not operate against the "true" servants of the Dark Voice which I expect to see in the Protoss campaign (the black-eyed mind-slave types from the comic series), I doubt very much it can interrupt his control method.

Again, I hope not, that Artifact crap was pushing the limits of my "not this again" tolerance.

I placed Silver yay! Not Bronze!

You are referring to the Voice in the Darkness, not the Dark Voice Even if many speculates that are the same being, but at the moment nothing is confirmed even if they share many similarities (so at 90% are the same entity)
