I wouldn't say that there is no possible way for SC2 to reach shelves in 09. Actually, I think it's very possible, as SC2 really seems to be in the final stretch.

Useless speculation but have we considered that, since Starcraft 2 is being marketed as the ultimate competitive esport, the level of balance they need to attain must be greater then the level of balance blizzard typically goes for with an RTS? This would lead to a longer beta phase.

1) Media members do not get access to F&F builds of Blizzard games.
2) Their very existence is confidential and covered by a NDA.
3) E-mail headers cannot be realistically spoofed, but that applies only to the original recipient. What he forwards is trivially spoofed.
4) This whole thing is a stupid hoax. Blizzard does not give out F&F keys to interviewees (though beta keys are possible), the MSN chat is a poor lie.
5) F&F builds are called F&F Alpha, not F&F Beta. After the massive leaks from the WotLK alpha and the new size of the company, there will probably no longer be any F&F Alphas.

No Blizzard beta has gone uncracked before so far, although it will be interesting if SC2 really won't be cracked (which I doubt).
