That wasn't you, the culprit was "common sense".

Im torn between sharks with fricken lazer beams and the Libyan Demolition Truck. On one hand the sharks add much need aquatic support to the zerg forces. On the other Libyans are a very underrepresented demographic in Starcraft lore.

What about a Libyan hovercraft, able to traverse both land and water and equipped with fricken lazer beams?

but the sharks are the coolest part of the idea!

I say it should fire sharks with fricken lazers on their heads.

Sorry, but their bite radius makes them inherently overpowered...

Oh you say that about anything. I mean heck you can always counter them with immortals.

I got it! What about a Libyan hovercraft which fires sharks that have fricken lazer's on their head. When faced with an immortal, the shark's have an ability which releases a volley of bee's from its mouth which penetrates the hardened shield of the Immortal.

While that is one of the most f***ed up ideas I have ever encountered, your concept nevertheless intrigues me.

In any case, I believe the Immortals force you to have low damage units in your forces. This can have positive and/or negative repercussions.
You can no longer only create a large force of high-output units. You need to add the smaller units in as well. This makes your force more 'realistic', not to mention the fact that this makes small-output units more useful in the later game.
However, it might get annoying to need a swarm of Zerglings in close proximity to your strike force just in case you face Immortals.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

I thought we wanted the immortal to counter the libyan hovercraft. I mean immortals are severly underpowered as it is. They should be able to do something.

Side note: in one of the recent interviews a blizz developer described the Broodlord as a "dog with bees in its mouth and when it barks it shoots bees." I laughed so hard.
