I've heard stories of infanticide. Of course they've got a wild side; they're untamed, instinctual animals. I was just talking about their other wild side. :Plol hope you know baboons are freakin viscous

Aaand sold.
Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

Monkeys may provide inspiration for the Zerg, whether they'll provide any useful genetic material is another thing.

I believe that was from Shadow of the Xel'Naga, the story of the unearthed "temple" and the sighting of the first energy creature. Old Blue was a mutated hound dog, and the Roverlisk was a new strain developed based off of his great sense of smell and speed, but the strain was lost with the brood's destruction.

God that was such a bad story, almost as bad as the concept of the Roverlisk itself.
Superior capability in language does not necessarily equate to superior intelligence...but it certainly doesn't help your argument if you sound stupid.

Makes me wonder at all the things sent along with Doran Routhe's expedition and the super carriers, and how. For example, were there actual blood hounds sent along in cryonic hibernation? Was their genetic code stored in ATLAS's computers and replicated in some fancy-shmancy test tube? Were they forcefully evolved from local wild life? Or did they just apply the old earth term "hound dog" to something that happens to have four legs?Old Blue was a mutated hound dog...
(I really have to wonder about that last possibility. As dumb as some of the terrans are, I find it hard to believe a seargent can mistake a zergling for "some poor feller's dawg." But hey, maybe dogs cost too much for some small colony like Mar Sara to afford, and he just heard stories of dogs?)

Maybe a 'dog' is simply now the generic term for someone's four-legged pet?

It wasn't the sergeant, it was some lowly idiotic private.(I really have to wonder about that last possibility. Also, it was dark and they weren't paying attention while listening to garbage music.
