You guys are implying that at the point the StarCraft universe has got to, particularly with Earth's StarCraft history, there would be any native species other than humans left.

Zoos, maybe.
Or scientists may have collected DNA of every animal by then, so that they can be cloned at any time.
And also, we don't know if Zerg can or cannot extract DNA from fossils or remains.
And if there were no more native species on Earth, then the only way Earth would survive is with imported oxygen, food, etc. which seems unlikely.

They're a cheap alternative to an Ultra? What can they do that nothing else can (or do 'as well' as they can)?
I'm pretty sure an assimilated Bear will rape the Zergling, or pwn a marine in a couple shots just like a real bear can own a human in 1 shot.

Centipedes: those bigger ones are nasty. Now imagine if they ten times bigger with Zerg plating.
Cheetahs: someone already mentioned. Good for very fast ground scouting.
Cockroaches: yeah, there's Roaches in the game, but I'm talking about the one species that'd survive a nuclear holocaust and a Zerg invasion. I'm sure the Zerg could adapt more from the cockroach's ability to be unkillable.

Somehow, I get a feeling that the Zergling with Adrenal Glands are already faster than the Cheetah.
Although that's just a feeling, no basis to back it up.
Edit: I mean metabolic boost... heh, forgot Adrenal Glands are attack speed...

The Zerg would infest the most disgusting, scariest form of life.
I am, of course, talking about Clowns.

Slothiens were relatively non-lethal before they became Hydralisks.
Something like a blue whale / colossal squid would be a prime target -because they're lethality will be increased, as well as their ability to survive outside of water.

Actually, it was termed more as 'peaceful' rather than non-lethal. The difference is while peaceful, they still had deadly defense mechanisms. It was their urticating hairs that became the basis of the Hydralisk spines.
So I imagine they'd want creatures with interesting mechanics that they could hyper-evolve. I think creatures like the bombardier beetle or a porcupine would be a basis of their interest.

Actually, that's a myth. Mythbusters tested it out and found that cockroaches died at the 'lethal dose' where as only flour beetles survived.
Precisely. Hence, whales would make a prime choice due to their ability to survive at high pressures and large enough to form an aquatic transport.
Another prime choice would be Bigfoot in order for the Zerg to gain their first invisible unit.![]()
