Thread: Little Note about the 3d aspect of SCII

Default Little Note about the 3d aspect of SCII

HI I just wanted to add something. It would be awsome of StarCraft II was truly 3D in the sence that we could spin 360 degrees around and that to do so we wouldn't have to hold a button to stay that way.

What I mean is I would like to press a button that would rotate the camera to the right and i could let go of the button and it would stay where I set the camera to be. That would be cool. I just thought of this because currently SCII only lets you rotate a little bit and it would not stay that way. What do you guys think?

The problem with that is you can lose your sense of direction. It would be horrible to be a Terran player, accidentally shift your perspective, and have your add-on build on the "wrong" side of your barracks because your view is distorted. Custom maps already allow for complete control of perspective, but for competitive melee RTS there's simply no need for it.

The game IS true 3D, just not the ladder games. You should check some of the custom games :P try banelings arena (one of the featured maps) and you will see it is really 3D.

The game by design doesn't allow you to rotate freely, zoom in or zoom out freely either. The main goal of this game is eSports, so they cannot give unfair advantages to rich people with higher resolution/bigger monitors against poor players with smaller monitors/lower resolution. That is why it is disabled.

Like others said, for true and full 3d experience, play custom games.

Those with widescreen get a wider picture. A bit too late for absolute equality isn't it?

Go try Homeworld 2. While a very fun game, it's incredibly difficult. True 3D gameplay is a big part of that. It just ups the learning curve so much.

They had to do some tweaking to get eyefinity to work though, so it might be bannable to do that (though the advantage would be enormous).

OMG! I love that game, and it's prequal. Here I did an LP of it a while ago: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...E31C1A712A636E

Awesome games. I obvioulsy like HW:2's grahpics better, but I am in love with the orginal HW's storyline! I have HW: Cataclysm but my computer is too new and wont run it.

There is a huge difference between software imposed unfairness and hardware imposed unfairness. Blizzard can fix all unfairness that might be caused by the software, but can't do much about regular vs widescreen monitors..

do you expect them to black out the sides? doesn't really work well.

At least they tried, heck go buy a widescreen if you are too concerned about absolute fairness. They are cheap enough nowadays..
