Thread: Some single player commentary

    Default Some single player commentary

Hi all. I was wondering if any of you felt the SP campaign of SC2 was a little lacking in strategic depth at times. Some levels (spoiler alert for those that may yet need it) such as the trains level, were sweet and challenging. Others were easily enough done by simple brute force and timing that extensive thought was unnecessary. Your thoughts?

    Some notes:

I have completed 18 of the 26 missions to this point and I will note the challenge is increasing.

The story is evolving extremely well. Blizz nailed that aspect.

I am a master tactician. It is my execution that keeps getting me killed.

The trains level isn't challenging strategically, it's done so that you build Diamondbacks, the same that many levels are just made to use some specific unit.

Agreed. That's why it seems so simple at times. I didn't notice. Duh. However, I had trouble with the trains level my first couple of goes. I unlocked siege tanks and went back in. Much better.

The fire wall level was pretty tough too. Taught me a bit about mules and speedy army prodo.

By the way, (spoilers) I just hijacked the Odin. Tychus is hilarious!!

I think i massed infantry and Diamondbacks in that mission.

Yeah, the problem there is the little time you have before the fire gets near your base, and the little amount of resources. I used mass Banshees and Wraiths in that mission.

Actually I beat it with siege tanks, they are extremely effective. And of course I reinforced with a ball of M&M&M.

What about the fast trains? There's no way the tanks are going to catch them, or i'm mistaken?

Tanks can destroy them if you place them at the right places - like the center of the sharp U-turns.

I've been muscling through on hard, and have to admit, the colonist 'convoy' level was tough for me - So far, I've had to restart that level the most times - But then, right after that, I pretty much tore through the 'zombie' and 'artifact' levels.

....then again, I've always had trouble with, "Save X amount of colonists/villagers before the enemy kills them" type missions
