Does anyone know if it communicates via GSM or via internet access? Has anyone used this while NOT being connected to the internet but connected to a GSM network, and the other way around (connected to wifi, but NOT on a GSM network).

ok so it gives u a serial and it needs to sync with Blizz servers one time only and then it goes by the algorithm and calculates the code. You can resync it if it ever goes out of sync but it's been 2 years and I haven't had to yet. I never have wi fi to connect to on my itouch so you only need to connect 1ce
