I hate the whole "Zerg now have glowy eyes" thing.

Same here... but I insist on an exception for Kerrigan. She's a powerful psychic, and should look the part.

I bet the lone ghost is Gabriel Tosh.

A no-name ghost (while I'd prefer this) is probably not likely to happen, so even at least a lower power level ghost would suffice. I think it's more interesting to show that you don't have to be an uber ghost (aka Nova or Kerrigan) to do anything useful.

Kerrigan wasn't an uber ghost until she was infested. She just had a unique genetic structure that made her susceptible to the Hyper-Evolutionary Virus. Otherwise she was pretty average power-wise. (Other than obviously being a clever commander in the Sons of Korhal.)

I think they've contradicted this since, but Uprising and StarCraft: Brood War don't imply that she's anything worth writing home about, other than her genetic abnormality involving the Zerg. (Other than obviously being a unique unit and having higher stats for that reason.)

I don't know if I'm happy or not that Nova is in SC2. I guess I'm okay with it as long as she has a fairly minor role.

Zeratul and Kerrigan's portraits look weird to me, though.

Maybe Nova is the Ghost that Browder was talking about in that one mission where you have to go it alone.

I thought it was Gabriel Tosh...But Nova seems like a possibility, too...

It's because they've done something that they're named. I.e. A character gets named only if said character is important. And a character is only important if s/he does something.

Also, I wonder if either of the two unnamed female portraits is the female Medic from Heaven's Devils. Sure, the pic has her dressed with a turban but that's more likely due to the environment than any other reasons. In space, there wouldn't be a need for it. But whoever they are, they're most likely character portraits rather than unit portraits since all others there are those of characters.
