Default Fantastic Critique on Starcraft 2 forums

    http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/374721415

The analysis is deep and the discussion throughout the thread is very enlightening and surprisingly civil, till about half way through or so, then people start to lose patience.

It's worth looking at if you got the time.

That was pretty phenomenal. I loved his critique of the protoss. It was spot on.
    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

I don't like how he considers his opinion as the only right thing. He treats people who liked the story delusional.

II. Apparently Brood War didn't happen

Brood War seems to be pretty much ret-conned out of existence.
My faith and interest in this dropped greatly when I read that.

And then he complains about Zeratul summoning Colossi and goes on to ask why Colossi were not employed in the defense of Aiur, and my faith and interest almost hit zero.

Finally I read he doesn't consider the novels and DT Saga canon, and interest and faith were depleted.

Rest of the thread just seemed to be nitpicking. He makes some good points, yes, like the retconning of the Overmind into being a slave, that's my major gripe with things. But on other points he simply doesn't seem to think his opinion through.

    SC2 handle - "DrakeyC, code 929"

I ARE A PROPHET! I've predicted three major aspects of SC2 correct, more or less.

June 2007 - I predicted the Protoss campaign would give you new tech as you conducted diplomacy among tribes.

    Hidden Content:
July 18th 2010 - I predicted Raynor would broadcast information of Mengsk's actions on Tarsonis to discredit him and incite rebellion.

    Hidden Content:
June 16th 2010 I predicted the Voice in the Darkness was the commanding force behind the Hybrids. I'm calling it half-right.

Well, to be fair why weren't they used in the past?

I don't understand his gripe about the UED. Is he just saying that they weren't talked about alot?

Meh. I don't really agree with much of what he says. For example:

"The barely contained rage, deep regret/shame, and fear that is so prevalent and central to the Protoss psyche in previous games is absolutely absent in SC2."

These things were prevalent in the Dark Templar saga, not other SC games. Sure, Protoss characters exhibited these qualities sometimes, but it's not remotely "central" to the Protoss IMO.

He addresses that in later posts, which I understand, are tedious to get to.

If I remember correctly, and don't take my full word for it, his gripe is that the effects of the UED invasions aren't really prevalent in the game. There's of course Kerrigan's rise to power, but beyond that, it's like the invasion was cast aside as if it never happened to a large extent.

But again, don't take my full word for it, the thread is a good overall read, but you don't need to go through all in one sitting, you have a life, it'll be there when you get back

To quote Yugioh The Abridged Series: "Because the writers hadn't thought of them yet".

I'm more concerned with Zeratul finding Stalkers and Warp Gates on Aiur when the Protoss didn't create either of these things until after Aiur was abandoned.

Probably just a base that was made by Protoss attempting to rescue survivors of the Great War.

Yet another person who confuses "mistakes" with "plot decisions I didn't like".
