Future Use of the Artifact

Whilst playing SC2, it is revealed that the Artifact interacted with Zeratul's crystal in a way that caused Hanson to believe that the Artifact would drain the life out of a Protoss if activated in the presence of one. Now, why would Blizzard add this little detail if they didn't plan on revisiting it some time down the road? Well, Blizzard seems big on turning incidental background information into major plot points in subsequent expansions/sequels ever since WC3; which in turn leads me to think the Artifact will play a major role again later in the story.

My theory is that someone (and my money's on the Dark Voice/Hybrid faction) will use the Artifact on the Protoss, causing them to be further forced into the brink of extinction. This actually works well with the current speculation that Narud is actually Duran in disguise. After all, he's part of Moebius Foundation and so well aware of the search for the Artifact and probably its plan to deinfest Kerrigan. And if Narud is Duran, why would he go along with it? Unless, of course, it's a cunning gambit in which he trades Kerrigan (and so control of the Zerg) in favour of a device that can wipe both of them out en masse.

Okay, reverting back to noob mode:

For future references, what fits into SC2 discussion board and what fits into the lore board? Does all speculation for HotS and LotV fall into the lore section or is it divided so that discussion on future mechanics/units/etc go into the general board whilst plot/missions/events/etc go into the lore board? If so, it's quite artificial and discussions can (and probably will) get blurred.

That. Side-discussions about lore are allowed in SC2D, but a topic that is primarily about lore/missions like "future use of the artifact" goes in the lore board. I'm sure lots of people had this question - thanks for bringing it up.

It will not end as hard as the prophecy, right? Right?! ^^ I believe that the three races will lose something quite valuable.

Now this is extremely interesting, I had missed that little snip, in game, about the Artifact having an effect upon Zeratuls crystal. This leads me to believe, even moreso, that the artifact's true purpose is designed more towards Hybrids.

-It kills Zerg.
-It kills Protoss.
-It has no effect upon Terrans.
-It, seemingly, deinfested Kerrigan.

It's possible that the artifact was a failsafe mechanism for their experiments getting out of hand...but the Xel'Naga are extreme pacifists in nature. Not only did they not fight back against the Protoss...but they left even the Fallen One alive, imprisoning him rather than destroying.

So, why would they make a device to kill...unless that device was actually meant for use on Hybrids rather than Zerg or Protoss...and the effect it has on killing them nothing more than a byproduct of them, lesser creatures, not being able to harness the effects?

I think Kerrigan's in store for an ascension.

Now that we're discussing Xel'Naga pacifism... What's the point with the Xel'Naga temple on Shakuras then?
And how is that temple's energies different from the Artifact besides killing Zerg and not Protoss? It used both Void and Khala energies, so howcome it differs from the Artifact?
