Thread: Stand stills

    Default Stand stills

So I just finished playing a game which ended in a complete stand still.
Anyone elts come across this situation?
Is Blizzard aware of these situations?

I had a Stalker, an unpowered gateway, an assimalator, and 2 probes.
He had a floating barracks......Obviously we where both out of minerals.

Blizzard should seriously think about putting in a draw mechanic, that both parties would have to vote on.

How do i share replays btw? I'll load it up and you can all see how stupid this situation can be.

My solution: if no one in the game mines or fires an attack for 3 minutes, a draw option will appear. If any player clicks yes, the game will perform another 1 minute countdown. If no one mines or attacks in that time, the game will end, and the person with the higher score will win.

Also, the correct term is a "stalemate."

The draw should alway be a solution, like in HoN.

So it actually became a case of "who quits first?" Good thing I run 2 computers in my room, I'd have just left the game running all day if I had to.

    Yes it's stupid.

But jesus christ. Be a goddamn man, leave the game, and take a loss. You'll lose 4 points, so what? Too many people think that Starcraft is a game about points. If you feel like you've one the game ( Which in your case, you prolly have ) be happy about it.

I once read, that Starcraft is not about winning or points. It's about improvement.

Carsickness was mostly pointing out this flaw I think ; ) Sure it's been brought up a few times before, but at least he isn't one of those guys who assumes (with no specific argument) that he should have won, despite the obvious fact it's a draw.

This has never happened to me so far, and if it did I wouldn't care, but it would make more sense if they implemented a draw feature.

    True.

But I'm really tired of these threads.

Some dude posted something about a stalemate lasting 9 hours here : http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/view...opic_id=140606

Ok, watched the replay. I must admit, wow. lol
But yes, there should be a forced draw option somewhere in there.

Yea this topic gets bandied about every so often. It's a small problem that in no way needs to be addressed. I want b.net improvements and serious balance work done, I don't need them spending time and effort implementing a feature to fix .01% of games that boil down to a stubborn battle of wills and ISP stability.
