Thread: Protoss is OP; Blizzard poll shows

Default Protoss is OP; Blizzard poll shows

And by OP I mean over-played. As of 8:30 pm on thursday blizzard poll shows that 34% of the players prefer Protoss as their main race. Thats up 5% on Terran.

Can someone point me to the Battle.net this was conducted on?

    All I see is Zerg.

Is this trolling? That people prefer playing Protoss doesn't make it OP; its always unit statistics, not popular choice, what determines it.

For example (just example) Protoss can be easier to play; ergo they are the most played.

The OP doesn't say that the Protoss are OverPowered, he says they're OverPlayed. It was a joke.

    Note the first sentence.

Edit: I'm sorry I have a bad sense of humor.

Well, Protoss is considered the "easiest, newbie" race, amirite?

Not really. People move towards a race that's generally more powered, easier to play than another race.

Balance isn't just numbers. If it takes 1.5x more skill to balance another race, then that doesn't mean the races are balanced at all.

For example, in the hay days of Supreme Commander Competitive Play, 60% of pro gamers played Aeon. It was obvious that Aeon was overpowered by a wide margin.

If you look at the stats for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4, Protoss are always around 35~, Terran around 25 and Zerg around 20 with random filling in the rest.

It's not hard to see that Protoss are the easier / more powerful race to play at the moment.

It's still the very beginning of Starcraft 2, who knows what will happen. Give this game a year of patching and metagaming and we'll see.

To play at a low-medium level, yes. I picked up the Protoss from the very beginning of the beta and instantly understood the race and played very well with them. Terran, however, was almost a 180 from SCBW.

    Rest In Peace, Old Friend.
