How about trying out Mumble?
As an avid ventrilo user for 6+ years, I find it way better than Ventrilo, and any other method of VoIP.

One of the best features is the overlay, that shows who is talking while in-game, which is great when talking to people you don't know the voice of =)

Position and looks can be customized, but this is basically how it looks initially: (top right)

Made 12k usd since i last played with u guys, took so much of this year away from poker so have to pick up my slack from playing too much mmo/sc2

Got plans to backpack some next year so had to uninstall every game to make some money
