    Default TvP- how do you deal with fast expanding P ?

    So as a terran player TvP was my easiest match up, until yesterday that is... OK,true it was late, I was sleepy, but I know I can beat a toss anytime with MMMG & vikings. I palyed 2 games vP, both of witch I was overwhelmed by stalkers and collosi, mind you I had ghosts and vikings... but they simply had too much units . Ok, the first game was my fault, `cuz I didn`t saw his gold expo until it was too late. But the second game he went nexus before gateway(or with the first gate,don`t remember) and plased 2-3 canons to defend.At this point I expanded, but knowing that I have to counter colosi I began teching for vikings to quik and didn`t have enough army, he easily overwhelmed me wit 4 or 6 collosi and a bunch of stalkers. So what`s the plan against this ? Air force maybe ? Fast expand and go banshee&raven + vikings ? Help me out here :P

    Nexus before Gateway seems like a risky thing to do against Terran. Normally you want to go Gateway to Cybernetics, in order to get that first Stalker out. Otherwise, a single reaper can do tons of damage to your probes and the Protoss won't be able to do anything to stop it.

    Did he scout you early and knew, that you weren't going for the early reaper?

    In any case, speaking from the perspective of a Protoss player, here's my take on it:
    Colossi are extremely expensive and the first one comes out pretty late in the game. Against an aggressive Terran, the Protoss player has to rely on forcefields and his ramp to protect himself, until the first Colossus is out. Otherwise, a marauder timing attack can easily overwhelm him.

    So my advice is this: If you can't out-macro him, i.e. respond to his early expo, with one of your own and delay the first major battle till the middle game, then you could opt for early aggression. As soon as you scout the fast expo, focus on pressuring him early with marauders. At the worst, you should be able to take down his expansion and then expand yourself. At best, you will end the game right there.

    Marauders are really strong against gateway units and without an Immortal, a Colossus or, at least, a 4-gate, he shouldn't be able to protect that expo from them.

    On the other hand, you could go for reaper harass. If he builds a nexus before cybernetics, you should get quite a few probe kills.

    What map was it? Quite a few maps make early reapers really strong if the protoss tries to fast expand (the only requirement is that there is a cliff available to use). Fast expanding THAT quickly and spending a bunch of resources on cannons at your expansion would (probably) leave his main wide open. Aside from that, quick siege tanks to break his cannons before he gets colossus or a medivac drop into his main would hurt him pretty badly.

    3 rax MM wrecks any fast expand. Push out at around 8 minutes with stim/shield/conc grenade, stim and go. He won't have anything to beat you.

    i have to agree with both rabid and omar, if u scout a fast expand, a 3 rax will destroy a fast expanding toss player

    if he somehow manages to defend it tho, a drop will than kill him as fast expanding means moving your wall to ur fast expand and leaves ur main open, and that will kill him.

    if he manages to defend both of those..........yeah....i got nothing... lol

    Scout more proactively, then if he does X you do Y. Its really depending on the situation.

    If he Fast expands(Nexus b4 gateway), u could try a bunker rush?
