I agree. The first one was just as superficial and cheesy. However, Blizzard is well aware that since its release, it has gained a large fan-base, which caused several books to be written regarding the lore of the game itself. With that in mind, they should have spent more time making sure this story was superior to its predecessor and more in-depth imo.
I do agree about the Star Wars thing too. I don't know how people convinced themselves Episodes IV-VI are so much better than the prequels. They were both cheesy and fun to watch, but nothing profound.

To me I think they did spend a ton of time making sure this story was superior to SC1's. Considering this is 1/3rd of the story arc (which amazes me, because it feels very 'complete' as is, and just as compelling as all of SC and BW) I think that the effort and product is definitely there. And just as with all the books and lore that came about from the original Star Wars movies, there's no way they can fit it all in to the prequels to make everyone happy. Just the way it is. But really, putting SC1 next to only a third of SC2's story, and it seems to me that WoL is just as well told and as 'epic' as SC1.
I mean, what is to be expected? It's a game company, not Shakespeare. It's alien science fiction/opera, not Dune and Frank Herbert. We all love it anyways, and it's our favorite all the same, but let's not make SC what it is not. I expected something better than my favorite game (SC), and got it (SC2). That's the way it is, for me.

If you disagree, you are in your right to have a different (yet wrong) point of view XD

Guys, the campaign is NOT short. It's a lot longer than the originals. You guys played it too easy. Like I said, everyone who's experienced at the game would have the best experience playng Brutal. It made the game effing epic.
You're making progress. Finally you've started to examine yourself. Kudos to you!
Rest In Peace, Old Friend.
