Thread: The Dark Voice and the Voice in the Darkness

I think they're different, but if the Narud = Duran theory is valid, it would be like Duran to free the Voice.

But I don't think the timing is right. It had to have been imprisoned by the xel'naga before they created the Overmind, since they died shortly afterward.

It's possible the Xel'Naga caught it tampering with the Overmind and that is why it was imprisoned.

I believe they referred to the Dark Voice as 'The Fallen One'. I think they are referring to a fall from grace. Like maybe the Dark Voice is a rogue Xel'Naga - one who was so evil that they had to cast it out of society and imprison it.

However, it could still communicate to lesser species from its prison, and influence them (like with Duran, presumably). Through this power, it sabotaged the Xel'Naga's experiments with the Zerg.

There's a reason why Edward Longshanks was an evil git in 'Braveheart'! Down with the shanks! All of them!

Did you see the clear pic of the Dark Voice's portrait? It's some kind of Protoss with weird Zerg facial features, though they are too minor for me to say that it's a Hybrid.

Kudos to Arkceangel for the Terran avatar and sig!

    based on this

the xel'naga fought him long before they met the protoss and zerg.

The dark voice and the voice in the darkness ARE similar, but the voice in the darkness seems to have a slightly different personality than the dark voice.

We have the dark voice, who seeks total annihilation ASAP, and the Voice in the darkness who wants everyone in the galaxy to bow down and let his mighty tentacleness suck all the life out of them.

And there's the name difference, although that could be Blizzard's effort to make the name less of a hassle.

If one void entity exists it is possible that others do as well. Maybe the voice in the darkness was simply the most powerful and all the other void entities had to hide from it?

The dark voice does seem much less powerful than the voice in the darkness.
While the dark voice seems to lean on the hybrids and the zerg to do its bidding, the-guy-with-the-longer-name-that's-oh-so-painful-to-type would rather just sweep through the galaxy itself possessing all the terrans and protoss and not even paying attention to the zerg due to their lack of psionics.

And now they have expanded into a serious faction. Ulrezaj's boss probably converted more Protoss.

What if the Dark Voice is an avatar of The Voice in the Darkness?

I mean, it wouldn't make sense if you read it, but think of it. What if the Dark Voice is just a representation of the entity itself, and is not in its full power? We don't even know where the Dark Voice even was on the profecy.

Or, Aiur was not where they first showed up (i.e. it was not where Ulrezaj first started converting other Protoss) and like a religion, it spread from place to place. After all, at no point did anyone say the Tal'Darim were limited to and can only be found on Aiur.
