Thread: My Computer went for a swim

I'm reluctant to do that, Corgon. I mean, lord knows I'll try when I get home, but before the computer refused to start up, the speakers were making crackling and popping sounds, and I lost all audio from the game and from the computer itself. I'm afraid some damage was already done. That said, the thing's been sitting there for about 30 hours, and I think all of the water has gone.

I'll have to wait til tomorrow when I can get a ride to the tech center.

I have the worst luck with computers. ._.

EDIT Speaking of which... Is there an option to get captioning in the game? I was able to do that for StarCraft and BroodWar, but I wasn't able to find a captions option in StarCraft II.

Well, yeah, I don't really recommended running your pc unless its really only a little bit of water. It worked for me but it might not for everyone. But try the hardware reset, that should work, if not your kinda SOL since warranties don't cover water damage.

Yeah. It was like a little splash. I didn't think it was anywhere near enough to do any damage, but I took precautions anyway. I'll reset when I get home. It's dry by now. Can it really get any more damaged than it already is?

Does the hardware reset erase anything? How does it work?

I have it turned on, so yes, and works even inside pre-rendered cinematics. Thats great.
Look in options, could be inside audio, don't remember, and i'm working right now.

Well, the computer finally boots up now, and I've attached a USB keyboard and mouse to get things going. Bought some external sound boards to make up for the fried audio system. Looks like I've got a desktop now, but at least I've been able to complete the campaign!

I might get the laptop turned into a professional to get it fixed so I don't have to carry this whole construct around with me when going to classes, but until then, I'm set.

Something to be said for stubbornness and good ol' fashion Making-It-Fit-Goddamnit ethic. Much cheaper too.

    Thanks for the advice guys.
