I read the forum I think you were talking about, and somewhere the blue said something about them doing the online only thing to prevent "Piracy"...

EDIT: Im probably just going to stay out of the SC2 Technical support forums, they're much more depressing than WoW's...

EDIT2: Here are a few blue posts...

"You need to log on at least once on your Battle.net account on that computer on a working connection before Offline Mode can be enabled. It only works for 30 days before you need to reauthorize it."

Okay cool, I can do that, sucks for military and people without internet connections.

"The game does require a broadband internet connection. Offline mode is there if you happen to get disconnected or need to go out for a bit and not being connected to anything."

    -.-

6 zerglings walk in a bar and the bartender says

I'd rather know what's up though. I hope blizzard will turn from this path, even for just the editor and map testing.

Them just dropping the whole "You need to log on at least once on your Battle.net account on that computer on a working connection before Offline Mode can be enabled. It only works for 30 days before you need to reauthorize it." would be pretty nice too.

We should start a riot. That seems to be the only way blizzard ever goes back on some of their idiotic decisions.

Throw us a link to the discussion. I probably won't be able to login in that forum, because it's from another region, but if i can, i will say something about it.

I tested in in my house, and it worked offline.
This is what i did: with the cable disconnected, i tried to log-on.
It failed with "BN down, or no connection available". I accepted that.
Then another box appeared with only mi mail address and a connect button, then it failed again and the error box had the "offline" button, which showed the attached screen and worked. There's also a "play as guest" button in the login screen, maybe that works.
    I have the SC2-WingsOfLiberty-enUS-Installer version.

Is is possible to play off-line single player mode while connected to the internet, or do you have to be disconnected just to have the option?

I was hoping to be able to play off-line by default.

Any info on this is appreciated--thanks!

That's what I did, and tried it again now, but still it tells me to login to battle.net to authenticate my client.

That is up to the point when you click the play offline.
