SC2 Patches problems. HELP!!!!

when i installed it, i then downloaded the first patch, then clocked play. it goes to play then pops up saying sc2 needs a patch to play would you like to down load it? i click yes, it has the starcraft 2 connecting to patch server picture up for a bit then goes to play, then repeat. then i managed to get onto the downloader and download 22% of the next patch until it said the tracker is not responding. WTF, why cant i just fucking play the single player without pactches?! any helps?
