Thread: Plasma thrusting

    Default Plasma thrusting

"The Crucio is the Dominion update of the immensely popular but aging Arclite siege tank. The Crucio has been designed for increased survivability with an enlarged, reinforced turret and hull. The new turret layout also features an upgraded assault-mode armament package so that the Crucio can fend for itself more successfully in an open battlefield."

So i'm wondering if the crucio tank is the updatet version of the arclite, why do ve have to research siege mode, couldn't it just come with the siege mode, like the marines with range.
I costs 200 Minerals and 150 Gas to build a siege tank, that is 50 minerals and 50 gas more than it used to cost in sc1. Wouldn't the cost increase support that the siege tank should come with siege mode.
I'm suggesting an alternative upgrade for the siege tank that would replace the siege mode upgrade and help balance the siege tank. The plasma thrusting upgrade :
Plasma thrusting upgrade would increase the range of the tank in siege mode. Currently the siege tank has a range of 13 in siege mode.I would like that the siege tank comes with siege mode and a siege range of 8, then with Plasma thrusting upgrade it would have a range of 13 . So the plasma thrusting upgrade would increase the range of the siege tank by 5.
I think this would balance the siege tank so it could come with siege mode.

Hmm, not sure about this. It's true that in SC/BW tanks pretty much only existed as a rush to get siege mode - before that they were pretty useless.

However I think in SC2 they want to emphasize that the tank can be a useful worthwhile unit even while in Tank mode, which is why it has boosted stats and cost.

It's just a little more effective against armored units and far worse against everything else, and still has just 150 hp.

Thinking more about this, this alternate upgrade sounds like a good idea. Justify the Crucio's superiority over the SC1 tank, but also leash its true potential until you research the range upgrade.

However I've got a feeling most people wouldn't dig this.

The tanks mobile mode should be viable, just like the Vikings ground mode. I prefer having siege as the upgrade with a powerful mobile mode as well.

How does it make sense that that after all the years that have past in the sc1,we still have to research siege mode. Have the terrans in the meantime forgotten or lost this technology, when designing the crucio. I'm alredy tired of reaserching the siege mode for about 1000 time.

Are you saying that the name plasma thrusting doesn't make sense or what ArcherofAiur?
The siege attack has a 120mm Plasma Cannon in siege mode , so in my mind the name plasma thrusting makes sense.

How does it make sense that that after all the years that have past in sc1, we now have only 8 range in siege mode and have to upgrade it to 13?

And researching siege is a big part of SC1 strategy and timing pushes.
