    What?

If you're asking whether Zerg can see infrared, probably not.

I don't see why zerg wouldn't have infrared vision. It's just another wavelength of light. A lot of creatures on earth can see in ultraviolet and infrared. Why not zerg, too? Probably just Overseers, but still.

The relevant bit about zerg vision, from Qeen of Blade: "He watched as the zerg continued their progress, climbing over the cone’s lip and down into the crater itself. The surface looked solid, though Raynor remembered what Cavez had said. Certainly if it was just a skin the zerg would have crashed through, particularly the lumbering ultralisks, but they didn’t have any trouble crossing. They probably had ways to detect the hot spots, he realized, much like IR goggles enabled his team to do."

You're probably right. I read that humans don't see IR very well because they don't have a tapetum lucidium, so it would follow that the Zerg with glowing eyes are the ones that can see IR the best.

    tapetum lucidium
I thought this acted as a reflector for light, which is what gave cats their glowing eyes and better night vision. o_O

If I recall, Earth's atmosphere allows all "visible" light in, but only minute amounts of infrared, ultraviolet, and thinks like radio waves etc. Life on Earth evolved (or was created, your call) to exploit this by developing eyes. Since the Zerg came from any number of planets, and even space itself, they may have been on planets with atmospheres which allowed infrared and ultraviolet thorough, and evolved to exploit it. So yes, it's entirely possible some Zerg can see infrared. The Overlords almost certainly can, having originally been native to space itself, if I recall correctly, and would have been exposed to every possible wavelength of light. That's probably why they could see cloaked units. Their detection being moved to Overseers is just for gameplay purposes.

Yes, but I read that it also helps with detecting lower wavelengths of light, because without it only 10% of the incoming light lands on the photosensitive part of the retina.
