Thread: Singleplayer Expectations: Before Release

    Arrow Singleplayer Expectations: Before Release

Is it going to be a disaster? Something special? As the game stands, how do you think you'll feel after you've beaten that last single-player level?

I'll follow up after the game's release with a poll "After Release" to see how the game measured up to your expectations.

I'm sure I'll be more than satisfied, but not blown away. I'm the kind of gamer that doesn't take story to heart; I still enjoy it though .

I'm hoping to be blown away. I'm not a big fan of some of the tilesets shown, I pretty much only like Agria and Bel'shir, so I'm hoping the way they set up the maps will impress me into liking them.

As for the actual story or anything like that, I'm expecting big things. I'm hoping we haven't seen every single unit in the game. I haven't seen a wireframe for centaurs, yet (which I know are in the infested terran night mission).

It feels that I would need to get expansion 2 and 3 before completing the campaign. But I don't know. Maybe they did it in a smart way so you won't feel that way, and that your focusing on something else.

One of my friends, who's read all the dialogue by now, said he was kinda disappointed. I'll probably be disappointed too.

    If not, that'd be great!

Well, we have to temper our expectations. The first Terran campaign really wasn't anything to blow you away. I think sometimes a lot of our love of StarCraft comes from the community we have, the nostalgia, and endless debating. Which is fine by me. I want a single player experience that poses more questions than answers and prompts some thought. My expectations aren't that high; the only reason I'm excited - and WILL enjoy it - is because, well, it's StarCraft.

EDIT I just watched a spoiler video. It was the cinematic with Zeratul and Kerrigan. And when I said I watched it, I mean I watched beyond what we've seen already for two whole seconds. Kerrigan: "I knew you'd find you're way here." Zeratul: "You're --" *click* That was enough for me.

I feel bad now. Like I've committed some taboo. =[

    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

Experiencing the story in such a way is bound to disappoint someone. I say the best thing is to go into the game with as little expectation as possible.

    Rest In Peace, Old Friend.

Agreed. Too bad virtually everyone is picking the "blown away" option. :P

Blizzard told us to pick that option, so I picked it :P But I do hate liars... alot...

*I'm in it alot for the story, but I also want to -play- it, and I hope they have made this a good experience.
