It's the Blizzard formula, of course he's going to turn evil.
At least they are creating an Arthas 2.0 with Valerian being more shadowy and mysterious.

Until we found out what the prophecy is, we can't be sure.
In the novel Zamara only tells Jake of the process the Xel'Naga are required to take, not whether Kerrigan is involved. But is it of both Zeratul's and Valerian's intentions or even Kerrigan's that she need be de-infested? It was the zerg themselves who destroyed the Xel'Naga, but now that they have no control over the zerg (an assumption) how will it work out?

Just fun speculation for now, we'll be sure to find out after WoL.

I was actually wondering if the Overmind was back. We know of the potrait which could be from a flashback.

But in the patch 16 files an overmind tendril was found.

Perhaps in HotS a new overmind is somehow...Created, and Kerrigan has to battle it for power?

I noticed this too. This poses something interesting - what if this is the reason Kerrigan needs to better her abilities? To battle a new overmind?
But it mayn't explain her de-infestation and the whole Xel'Naga plotline..

Is the overmind like a zerg strain, and that it naturally would grow overtime?

I always thought it was Cerebrates Combined makes an Overmind.

If that was the case, Tassadar's act would mean very little.

Yeah, I don't think a new overmind would've just popped out of nowhere..
It really would render Tassadar's sacrifice almost meaningless.

It would not pop out of nowhere. But something may happen.
The original Overmind was a Xel'Naga product made from the original Zerg, which were Larvas without their ability to mutate.
If made once, it can be made again by someone. Such as Duran or the Voice.

An organic Psi-disrupter of the sort then, where someone would drive the broods into a frenzy? It would make use of Auir broods... hmm...

Therein lies the problem with your complaint. It's serviceable, not awesome, not amazing, but adequate after 12+ years adequate isn't what was expected.

Our complaint with the writing style is that while SC and BW were a bit over the top and campy it made sense - there was sophistication and purpose and while I agree that it is too early to really form a totally informed opinion, what've we've seen of the dialogue is far too over the top. It suffers from "epic syndrome" and while you can argue that that is blizz's style in BW and SC you had the direct nature of the Zerg dialogue and the sophistication of the Protoss to balance it out - now we have an entire campaign filled with Lester-esque Terran's. Even Nova sounds like a red-neck (*hangs head in hands*) and while a lot of my aversion to the dialect might come from my personal opinion overall the acting makes the story seem both vapid and overly epic (read: try too hard).

I've started writing notes for SC:L's mega review already but rest assured we'll all play through the campaign a couple of times before we render our judgment.

Well I guess it kinda goes without saying that kerrigan (you?) will have very little to work with at the beginning of HotS. Some sort of a power taking over part of the zerg fits in there nicely.
