Crysis actually runs like a breeze at maxed settings
... Where did you get that mythical supercomputer of a beast, and how can I get my own?
Aaand sold.
Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

well, "breeze" means I don't usually see it run under 50FPS. It does stutter in places, but it plays pretty silky.
But yeah...Crysis is still an insane piece of programming to run through its paces. If I had a 5970 then it would run like a true breeze. I'd also have enough money to pay my electric bill at the end of the month
Anyway, back on topic: watching the trailer a few more times...I still don't see it as epic as I was hoping. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high, but watching it at 1080p just made the differences between pre-rendered and on-the-fly all the more jarring. The voices were a bit...off. Not bad, not even mediocre, but just not up to a really high standard.
Again, I didn't find it all that impressive, but that doesn't mean I want the game any less.

Crysis with maxed .ini configurations would ABSOLUTELY DESTROY YOUR COMPUTER. I'm sorry to say. But that's not the point. In order for the in-game cutscenes to be on the level of the FMV which is what you've hinted that you wanted, you would probably need 16+ of those videos cards just to run the minimum. I say that because that's probably what they used to render it frame-by-frame. The purpose of the in-game cinematics is to give us more of what we want. They can't make over an hour of full motion video so they made an hour or so of in-game cutscenes instead. And, since it's rendered on the fly, it obviously needs to be a bit less than the FMV. The choice is obvious, in my opinion.
(No more derail plz)

But the whole point was that some scenes look great and others looked ugly, and even more so in comparison...

It's the nature of the beast. The alternative is to have less cutscenes. Surely you don't want that. Just like huge games like Crysis have to skimp on a texture here and there to make the overall scene the best it can be, the cut scenes have to skimp here and there to get the overall scene the best it can be.
Rest In Peace, Old Friend.

1: your manner was condescending and insulting, as it usually is. "rape your little computer is not a phrase that is taken lightly by anyone that enjoys computing for living, and it was not a phrase that would go over well with anyone. I just happened to be willing to stand up to the sarcasm. Epeen in something I never engage in except to prove sarcastic biters wrong when they think I simply can't "handle" something.
2: maxed ini configurations on crysis destroys anything but crossfired 5970s, which is why when people talk about "maxed crysis" they refer to non-ini maximization. Nobody does max ini configs with crysis unless they're masochists
3: the i5 doesn't come close to overclocking as well as the 1090T does, and "hands down" is laughably wrong. The 1090T beats the i5 in more than half of the tests, and when the i5 wins it's by the narrowest of margins. I spend as much time digging around in photoshop and 3DS max as I do gaming, so for $300 there was nothing better I could pick. Besides, I've yet to see any decrease in performance from my X4 965BE in non-multi-threaded applications, so turbo core is apparently doing it's job.
4(non-derailment): I know why they don't do pure pre-rendered quality for everything, thanks. But even then, the quality of the non pre-rendered stuff is lacking. It's several shades below DoW2, and the kind of stuff I would expect to have seen several years ago. Yes, I know they make the game accessible to the lowest common denominator, but I was still expecting something better than this. Watching it on 1080p is extremely jarring, going from "dang awesome" to "wow that's 5 years ago ugly" every few frames.
Simply put, it was disappointing. And yet when I mentioned that I get insulted. Strange, isn't it.
