LMFAO !!! Brutaxilos, you're freaking awesome lol!!
I watched only first part of it, but it was just too funny man!
@ Demo: SC is a very old game, as you know it. Personally, the appeal for SC1 was not it's gameplay but the story, and, at the time, the cinematics (they look crap now, but theyre weren't for their time) were what kept me interested in the game so much. The reason I want SC2 this bad today is for 2 things - the gameplay AND the story. Since 2003, I learnt/discovered competitive starcraft and have been trying to get into it.
In SC2, I got lucky to get into the Beta and experience the gameplay first-hand. After like 18 patches, they made the gameplay extremely good so far (except for the infestor's OP inf terran spell), and I am definitely getting the game for its gameplay.
But, the main reason I want SC2 is the storyline. I've been craving it for 12 years. And, the small tid-bits they threw us at the Blizzcons since 2007 have really made me excited in anticipation of how it will develop.
I don't know why you're so upset about the way the trailer was presented since this is, as Gradius mentioned, part cinematics, part gameplay of the single-player cutscenes. Also, this was never aired on TV. This is mainly aimed at us, the "fanboys" as you aptly described us. There is nothing wrong in it, and I partially agree that they could have included some gameplay in it like near the end or something and then revert back to in-game cutscenes/cinematics, but I think that Blizzard did not want to give away too much in terms of how the single player will look like in-game.
I did not see deception, only the decision to be conservative. I also feel that you have been "hurt" as a SC2 fan. I don't know why and I won't pry. I just wanted to point out that your lashing out at this trailer is not reasonable. I'll leave it at that.
Everyone is excited about it, including me. I'm sorry you don't share this excitement.

Squid, you know that I'm as disappointed with the gameplay in SC2 MP as you are. You know that my standards, like yours, were set a lot higher than what Blizz ended up being intent on delivering.
Having said all that, what you're going on about in this thread is just nonsense.I mean, it's fun nonsense, but it's still nonsense. A trailer is meant to sell. It's not meant to "depict accurately." In the rare scenario that those things happen to coincide, great. If they don't -- nothing new.
Besides, it's not strictly speaking misleading. SC2 has more of a focus on the story than MOST games. Sure, not all of that story is told in cut-scenes, and not all of it is told in RPG Hyperion mode (although a LOT will be), but in-game that will be OK. Once you're fighting those battles and triggered events are happening and characters' lives are at stake, it'll be OK that it's not all happening in a cut-scene. It'll feel just as relevant, just as dramatic.
Unfortunately, there's just no way to convey that FEELING in a trailer by showing 100% interactive SP gameplay. Especially not with the bad rep that RTS games (wrongfully, in Blizz's case) enjoy. Most people don't associate armies of units duking it out with a dramatic story, and there's no way Blizz will be able to prove them wrong in a 2 minute story trailer. They'll have to play it to see for themselves.

Traditionally people who don't like something don't buy it. Starcraft II seems to be one of the first things in history that people passionately hate but will buy anyway.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
