So it was something of all three coming together into this, which made it disappointing. Announce the Snow mapset, new Bnet2 features ready, something. A trailer is awesome, but then it just showed graphical problems for me.

So end result was cool, but not quite matched with the hype. I generally don't listen to hype, and this is why lol. It never ceases to disappoint me.

@ pure.Wasted : true, I agree. It's better than the terrible video ending to Frozen Throne, after all. (the arthas/illidan fight, I mean) I guess in that context I can live with it.
Get over yourself. What exactly do you want? You're one of those guys who gets over hyped because he is easily over hyped, he wants things he has no control over and then whines when he doesn't get these imaginary things.

The trailer is awesome, I saw it in 1080p and it is still amazingly awesome. I don't see any graphical problems that you're seeing. What is your problem? Please illustrate the massive amounts of graphical issues in the trailer.

Btw do you know how labour intensive it is to make these CGI + in game CGI scenes? First time in Blizzard history that they've done this kind of stuff.

It was just the color of his suit, I assume it transfers to the cloaking animation color. It wouldn't really make sense for him to have red lights on his suit and then when he cloaks it looks green. Kerrigan has blue lights and the decloak animation is blue.

Well as a trailer indeed, I still disliked the mix of both technologies very much.
And I never said they needed hours of pre-redered. Quite the opposite actually, I said their videos didn't have to be as long as this one, they could be MUCH shorter, but of better quality.

Telling the story in in-engine cutscenes is perfectly fine, I'm not really complaining about the quality of those.

What I've been saying from the strat is that the MIX of both technologies looked terrible.

@Pure.Wasted: You make some good points. You're right, when I saw some pre-rendered off the bat I was expecting something beautiful, not some "storytelling" (or a peek at what seems to be a pretty predictable story...). I guess it's all about expectations. When I saw that gun go in the holster, or that marine shoulder the other into a wall, that completely ruined the video for me.

Regarding "too much like a movie" complaint, NO! Seriously, what was up with the short flashing scenes at the end? The cut scene where that chick goes to kiss Raynor? Those dumb pauses before "to get the job done" and "some things are worth fighting for"? The cheesy underwhelming music? That had zero build up, even for a hardcore BW, and Blizzard fan like me.
Excuse me if I was expecting more from this than a ripoff from every single dumb hollywood action movie that exists... Sadly, that's what sells. But that's NOT quality. That's also why I was complaining about the off-voice, it was so... 'block-buster for the masses'. Another voice I hated was the overly-caricatural Mengsk voice (the son). Though the voices aren't the problem to me.
Hollywood blockbusters aren't always bad of course! Silly plotlines can become great movies, average acting can still draw you in, low budgets can lead to an epiphany, but that requires some awesome directing and coherence in the movie.

This was neither a high-quality video game teaser (watch Diablo and Diablo2 teasers) nor an adequate teaser to present a cinematic or story-telling telling experience. It was somewhere in the middle, and by not commiting I think this video fell short.

This is just my opinion though.
And again, you're right that the other voices are fine, and I did think for a second this might be an intro sequence. I just think this was a bit sloppy all-together (as was my post btw ).

It's a trailer who cares. Does the trick very well, huge amount of build up, lots of things we haven't seen. Lots of hyping for the game. Done. What else do you want? They want to save the CGI for the game, not waste it on trailers.

It's a game for crying out loud. The fact that they mixed in game CGI with prerendered CGI is great, considering some game trailers don't even do anything but just so in game gaming or pointlessly stupid CGI that doesn't even show the game.

They have to appeal to a wide audience because, like it or not, Starcraft isn't for only nerds who stay inside all day and nitpick video strategy.

two quick 3 second scenes ruined an entire trailer for you? You have some serious problems man.

Maybe that giant gun is the secret to how marines shoot down battlecruisers.

You seem to be contradicting yourself a little bit. You understand that this is the type of presentation that works for (all) trailers, and at the same time you say that you expected something different. But... this is a trailer.

SC2 isn't going to have pauses between scenes for emphasis the way a trailer does. A trailer needs to to seem dramatic. Is it the convention of trailers you don't like (not a SC2 complaint), or that this might be in the game proper (it obviously won't), or ... what, exactly?

Another voice I hated was the overly-caricatural Mengsk voice (the son). Though the voices aren't the problem to me.
Oh, come on. We've had literally one line from him. You don't think you're jumping to conclusions a little early...? If anything, I was startled by how much I DIDN'T instantly loathe him the moment he opened his mouth...

This was neither a high-quality video game teaser (watch Diablo and Diablo2 teasers)
We've already had an adequate high-quality teaser -- the Tychus cinematic. There's no sense expecting another.

nor an adequate teaser to present a cinematic or story-telling telling experience.
I fail to see how it wasn't. You're gonna need to give me some argument here, not just lay it down as fact.

@wankey: your post against me defies logic and does not deserve a full public rebuttal. I will skewer you privately because I still have some decency.
