I downloaded it in english and buyed the polish retail copy, activated it with the retail code and it worked
do the same or wait for language patches

Mass Effect Universe Fan, I support Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for Game of the year award! ME2 still is being the best rated game this year! Keep it up

Yeah, but it's the same server anyways, right? Both languages are from the same region: EU

Don't worry, i'm sure someone will make some guide to change the language. In the meantime, mail Blizzard about how much this language decision sucks, and how dissapointed you're.

That's correct, they have a server for LA region, but i heared it's physically in USA, anyways, so the ping should be the same. The LA client has only spanish and portuguese available.
The version in stores (in Argentina at least), is the time-limited version, which costs half, but is limited to 6 months (single player is also limited). Additional time costs 5 dollars per month (which means that playing 1 year costs the same than the full version). How will this interacts with expansions is a mystery. The limited version can be upgraded to full, but will cost more than buying the full version from the beginning. The digital download is unlimited, however, and costs 60 bucks.
Yeah, there's no chance in hell i choose the LA version. I'll go with the NA version. They can pretty much throw the retail boxes in the river.

Yeah but latin america is on the NA server. That's what's so odd about this. They go in the "Americas" section.

NA and LA are different regions. The LA servers are physically in the USA, but they're still separate servers. Not surprising, as this was done from the beginning to control the price offerings around the different regions. They don't want people in USA to buy the half-price time-limited version.

It's not the language that pisses me off (I actually prefere lots of movies in spanish, when they have a good translation) BAD translations do piss me off. The spanish version shows a poor voiceacting so far and some words that make me sad.

    Char = Charcoal in spanish

Haha, it seems that my inability to buy the game is in fact what I though....

Digital downloads are locked to regions as well!! Even though I have an EU account, which I've used for the beta etc... I can't buy the EU game, despite using my actual French address and french billing info, if I'm connecting to eu.battle.net from a US IP address!
    Bravo Blizzard, bravo, really.

I'm waiting on line for their tech support (thank god it's free via skype, I had to call EU tech, since US tech was useless because they can't even get my account info... because it's an EU account). Thank god for skype, otherwise I never would have called for obvious reasons.
Now all I can hope for is that they'll be able to lift this lock if I call support by phone...

It doesn't make any sense that they lock languages. They are gonna release language packs right? If they don't, it's an epic decision.

If you download the client from bnet its based on your bnet account, which automatically determines your location by IP.

If you download the client from other source you can choose which region to play at the installation process.

Uhm... i am using the NA client from South America, so it's entirely possible. I just selected the region i wanted to play before downloading the client. Then installed it, then payed for it.

Well that doesn't work for US to EU :/ The guy on the phone confirmed that while I was talking to him, and he said he'd see what he can do to get that unlocked on my account.
