you set your region at your account to NA
download the client for it and activate it with a local retail copy at least from what I've understand
    this is the full message:
    Greetings,

Thank you for your email. After you purchase Starcraft II and register game on battle.net you will be able to download game in all available languages. Polish game will unlock english client as well.

Mass Effect Universe Fan, I support Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for Game of the year award! ME2 still is being the best rated game this year! Keep it up

No wait Spychi, you can download the localisation you want, but that doesn't mean your beta key can be used for all servers... In your case, it all applies to EU so it's not the same problem Gna and I are faced with.

Unless this guy lied to me....

    Hello Hammy,

Thank you for your email, and for your interest in StarCraft 2.

Presently we would recommend that if you would like to play on within the EU region for StarCraft 2 upon release, that you either get a friend to purchase the game for you who lives within the EU, or go to eu.battle.net and purchase the game from the store there digitally, as the US key will only allow you to play in the US region.

    Hell, It’s About Time - July 27, 2010 :
Our StarCraft II Customer Support FAQ is regularly updated with new information and tips:
Here is my very poorly written request just in case:

    Request ------------------------------------
    Product: StarCraft II
    Category: Media or CD-key Issues

    Description --------------------------------

    Regarding the in-box cd keys:

I'm currently in the United States for the summer, but I would like to buy an EU-bound game to play on European servers, right after release. Also, I would like to have a game box.

Therefor my question: can I buy a box in the united states, use THAT cd-key to create an SC2 account on my europe Bnet account (the one I was using for beta on EU), and then download the EU_enGB client from the site to be able to play on EU? (since using the DVD from the box would give me a NorthAmerica-bound client right?).

In short: are in-box cd keys bound to regions? Or only the clients? How could I buy an SC2 box in the united states, but play on european servers (if necessary, exclusively).

Buying the game twice isn't exactly an option...

    Thank you for your time.

Gratz to him for actually understanding my confusing question. Good customer support on Blizzard's end (if this information is accurate... if he just gave me the safe answer I'd be annoyed haha but I doubt it), and I got this answer within 24h I think.

Sorry for the bad news Gna I'm as disappointed as you are...

From the way I'm reading that, I think it's talking about the languages and not the clients.

Now that the game's been released... has anyone actually tested this?

Bought a box in Asia or Australia and registered it to a US account? Or any other combination...

I'm kind of hoping the blizz rep just gave me wrong information... :/

Well, it looks like I'm locked on Latin America for some reason...

I'm also subject to the spanish version of the game.

So is anyone else also subject to this?

Edit: Tested it already... I'm locked in Latin America no chance of downloading other languages or changing my region. I hope Blizzard fixes this, I'm currently installing the game and the terran adjuntant is decent...

That's too bad. I didn't ever thinked you could change your region, but the thing about downloading additional languages was supposed to be said by Blizzard personnel. That's why i don't trust by default.
