Oh, man, I hope they are international.

Because technically if I'm just in the US for the summer, but I want to play on EU, AND I want a box: I could go for the digital download in EU_enGB, and then buy a box here and bind my key to my EU battle.net account.

But that only works if keys are international and not region locked.
I bet that's impossible. Otherwise, as the client download is free, you would be able to play in any region with the same key, defeating the purpose of the region locking.

No because your key would only be bound to one account of course. Which means that my key would forever be on an EU account, and EU exclusively.

edit: I messaged Blizzard EU btw. But then I realized it was dumb of me to msg them since, not only is it past their work hours now, but they're probably less staffed than Blizzard US. If someone else wants to message US support we might get a quicker answer...

Oh, i see, you want the box version just for the box itself, but don't intend to install the game with it at any time. You will just download the EU client, and try to use the NA key with it.
Yeah, you need to ask Blizzard about that. There's no way to know if that can be done just by the info we currently have.

Yeah, sorry I wasn't clear enough about that.

I'm still waiting on an answer from them, I hope it doesn't take too long! Maybe I should try calling them. Have any of you had any luck with their email support or their phone support?

I've read in the new Bnet forums and on TL that keys are tied to regions.

    Where's what I think (99%):

Regardless of your battle.net account region settings, the key will be registered to its corresponding region.

In my case, SEA, since my box is SEA. No matter how fast I can click and set my region to NA, paste the code, it will be on SEA server not NA.

Now, I go and install the enUS client, and try to login. Boom! no registered key. I install the SEA client, and wow, I'm online.

I rage, then, Blizzard says, "don't worry we'll have cross-region sometime in the future.

    Ah that's unfortunate :/
    Thanks for the info though!

It was an info that came too late. I hope they announce stuff like this earlier in the future.

in case you guys didn't pay for the pre-orders yet
    go to your battle.net account
change the region to whichever you want
    download the client for SC2
    buy the local retail version
    activate it with the key

I am doing it this way
I downloaded the EU English version of the client and I will activate it with the polish retail version
all this if you prefere other localization language than your own and it's confirmed

Mass Effect Universe Fan, I support Mass Effect 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for Game of the year award! ME2 still is being the best rated game this year! Keep it up

Okay, I'm so confused right now.

So, I can use the key out of my SEA box and play in the NA server?

    I can go like:

    1. Install the North American Client.
    2. Have my Battle.net account region set to North America prior to entering the key (which came from a SEA box).
    3. Enter the key, after checking that my account is really set to NA.
    4. Play with people in the North American Server.

    ?

To be very clear, here's the issue:

I want to play with people in the NA Server. I have a key out from a SEA (south-east Asian box). I'm not concerned if I can use one key for multiple clients, nor having the ability to go from one server to another with just one key in my battle.net account. I'm worried that the key which comes with the SEA box is locked to SEA region.
