Well, as Blizzard refuses to say how it works, i have not much idea, but you get placed according to the score, not the amount of games played, that have nothing to do with the skill, really. I lost a lot of PvT games, i won quite a number of PvZ games, and PvP was more of a mixed bag, but went fairly good. Take a look at the image in the OP, a lot of players there had about that numbers of games. Basically, if you have 50% win ratio playing against similar skilled players, the matchmaker leaves you there. Originally Posted by Jabber Wookie
Still, some strange things happened, like playing some guys that were really low-ranked, but had a lot of skill, get ranked a few times against Platinum players, and sometimes against top gold players, while saying "even match". I was playing a 3v3 as Zerg, I had just sent a run of speedlings into the enemy base, a Protoss who was beginning to pump out Phoenix's, as I was devastating his economy and laughing all the way to the bank, without warning I got a "YOU WERE DROPPED!" notice. FML.
It was going to be a good game!
