Throwing placement matches?

I was thinking of what I'd do when I finally got my hands on the game in a week or so, and the thought occurred to me. If someone purposefully lost their placement games to be put in a much lower bracket than they deserve - thereby getting to play against people of much lesser skill as you rise to your correct rank. It sounds unethical and generally cheesy to me, but I've made a list of pros and cons:

Pros:
1. smacking around noobs is always fun
2. less pressure to win in placement/regular games, so more opportunity to have fun and experiment

Cons:
1. mean or cheesy for unskilled players
2. could take a long time to reach true rank

So: what do you guys think? Is it a interesting, novel idea or a backhanded way to beat up unfortunate players? Or, has this been discussed before?

It has been discussed before, but in all fairness, it is so hard to play "underskilled" in a certain league because you will always have a "good" clock in your mind as to when to do what to win or lose. Sometimes you will just outmacro your opponent purely accidentally, and you have no choice but to pull the trigger. The system will automatically recognize your skill as being higher. Although I do agree that it takes a VERY long time to get to your actual League for your skill thereafter.

I had "accidentally" placed myself in Silver once and I was #1 Silver for a week...
I kept facing Gold and Platinum players and I beat about 2/3 of them. But, I still wouldn't move past Silver.

My league in Phase 2 is gold, and so far I've lost only 1 game out of 7. Haven't laddered heavily, but just goes to show that I am definitely no longer Silver material. I used to be when I first started in March. I reached Gold in End April/ beginning May. Then near the end of phase 1 I screwed up my placements and got placed in silver. I couldn't get out of it, lol...


So yeah... not fun to throw placements as it gets frustrating and boring.

In regards to the Taking forever to get outa the silver legue anyone else thing there should be an option maybe say your in the top 25% or 10% of any given legue to have the option to chalange a player or 2 from a higher rank and if you are sucessfull and beating them not just once but enough to prove that your skill is equal or superior to them and would allow you to rank up just in case you botched your placement matches wether it be you were tired or maybe just not playing at the top of your game?
