Default StarCraft 2 costs $100 million to produce

    Article: http://sclegacy.com/news/23-sc2/782-...is-development

Seems like a really big deal until you realise that the amount of money to make the game isn't even one month's worth of income they receive from WoW. Also I expect they'll regain the expenses to make it within the first few months from SC2 sales.
I really need to change this...

(this is for the entire trilogy)
    Comparisons:

60 million was used to produce Gran Turismo 5, previously the most expensive development.
285 million for another trilogy, the Lord of the Rings

    anyone have more comparisons?

Titanic was budgeted at $200 million. Avatar was budgeted at $237 million.

    GTA cost 100 million.
MW2 cost 250 million, but marketing inclusive.

Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 are going to impact the PC industry dramatically. Tons of people are going out and upgrading their computers, and consequently, the audience is dramatically expanding. This is a really good thing for the industry as a whole. Blizzard might be living up to some of their mottos (like "Think Globally", with the lack of cross region play), but they certainly are "leading responsibly".

100 million dollars, wow. If I win the lottery for 100 million dollars, I'm making myself a block buster game.

100 million just for development is the most of any game, this doesn't include marketing expenses.

HOWEVER, from the info I have this is the estimated cost for the entire trilogy.

GT5 is the most expensive EXCLUSIVE, aka high quality

MW2 is crap, so is GTA that game looked terrible. I'm not surprised that Rockstar ditched it for a new IP.

they'll prolly make all the money back in a month or so.

If they sell 7 million copies worldwide in the first 6 months with the game at $60 they are going to make around 420 million dollars.

That's about what Michael Pachter predicts for this year in sales for SC2.

I personally think that SC2 is going to sell 10 million copies worldwide this year for a cash of around 600 million dollars plus/minus currency converted.

The only thing I think is going to hurt SC2 sales though is that they don't have physical copies of SC2 available in Korea.

And I'm counting all available methods for buying the game, online sales as well.
